I had a fret buzz problem, and you offered advice and encouragement. I was successful in getting the buzz fairly eliminated. Thank you very much! Sorry I don't have much additional wisdom to share, but I did learn a lot through the process. I think the best part of your advice was to have patience (something I typically apply extremely conservatively...).

The solution for my particular situation was to slacken the truss rod to allow about half again as much curve as Fender suggests. The action is still acceptably low, and I may try to adjust that a little more as I go along, but I only get buzz when I pluck really hard. It's definitely a dance - tuning, adjusting the truss, tuning, adjusting the saddles, tuning, adjusting the truss... The whole process cost me a set of strings, and three or four months worth of patience. Strings are cheap, and idiot drivers will get the horn and finger more quickly for a while, but it's all good.

Hey the strings thing brings up another question. I've been banging on guitars quite a few years, and have found my B strings lose tone first, almost invariably. I've always assumed everyone experiences the same thing. Is it just me?
