Ok, I just obtained my second Roadhouse Strat. First, SSH, Maple, made USA, second, Rosewood, SSS, made in USA. I can post photos, and answer a couple of questions. BTW, they are not for sale, and I love them both. I might want the third in the series, but really do not like the Candy Apple Red. The 2 are just awesome playing and sounding guitars.

The one thing that kind of amuses me about the Pearly Gates Plus is...
Its a Billy Gibbons designed pickup and it has Alnico II magnets.
Once you change the magnet on it, its not really a pearly gate anymore just a 59.

yep, the original Roadhouse Strat's were MIA. Originally they were rosewood fretboards. When they switched to Mexico production, they became maple fretboards. Wish they didn't do that. I like the look of the Lonestar which is basically the same guitar except it has a HSS configuration with the Rosewood. I bought a Lonestar and hated the humbucker. So I traded it for a Roadhouse. After a while, I missed the rosewood, so I sold the neck and swapped it for a Lonestar neck. Worked out perfectly. The MIA Roadhouses are nice guitars if you can find them, but they are not much more than an American Standard with Texas Specials.......

Incorrect, the American production run also had the option of maple fretboards. I have an MIA Roadhouse Strat I bought new in 1998 and it has a maple fretboard (black body, tortoiseshell pickguard).
I have to say, it's bloody great !!!

....except that they call it the Blacktop Stratocaster HH.

Well this is a zombie thread - I don't think the Blacktops were out when chromeface posted that in June 2010. I thought the blacktops came out a bit later that year.
Black Top models have been around for about a year or so. Brains...
I think Blacktops are in a league of their own. Although they quote to have-

"Sleek and supercharged, the Blacktop Stratocaster HH has dual over-wound alnico humbucking pickups"

They aren't exactly period correct Pearly Gates bridge and '59 neck pickups.

It would be cool if the 90's throwback guitars weren't made in China or Mexico. Also, the MIM roadhouse and Lonestar strats need to be period correct and have hotrod colours- sienna sunburst, inca silver, surf pearl etc... Otherwise they are just suped-up standard series guitars.

This guitar is not a Roadhouse, but a LoneStar (aka American Fat Strat Texas Special).
