What were your impressions? Worth $30.00? Where did you put the battery?

Put the battery inbetween 2 trem springs, in the trem cavity.

Ive used similar products by Artec Sounds

http://www.artecsound.com/pickups/index.html

I've tried the BCU, EXP, QDD and the VTC. The last three featued in my first build

Their OK for the money and if you have a spare pot hole then go for it. You'd probably be able to fit the battery inbetween the 5way and the vol pot with a bit of tape if you don't like the trem placement (which works fine IMO)

There are better out there. The Clapton mid boost being the best i've tried and Wilkinson made a small mid boost board that wired up to an on off switch. For £17 (uk) it absolutly Rocks!!!. Shame as i can't find one for love nor money now.

Hope this helps

Andy

For that price it's probably worth the gamble.Guitar Fetish isn't a fly by night outfit and they put out some pretty good products. You could also check out the ToneStyler and Micro Pedal by Stellartone www.stellartone.com they have a 16 position tone shaper circut that you can either install in your guitar or use as a mini foot pedal. The MSRP is $79-$129.The beauty of it is that it doesn't need batteries.

Thanks, Andy.

The Artec Sound website was an "interesting" read.

I've looked at the Stellartone products. They seem nice but are a little pricey. Same thing with Villex. Plus, you can only do so much with passive circuitry.

Some people actually route a space for it near the tremolo cover on the back of the guitar so you can replace the battery as needed....

Yes, I am well aware of what the web site says to do. I am asking if anyone has actually done it.

Hi, I have done this, but not using this exact same boost control. I have used the MuzicTech 20bd boost with tone shaping. It is a similar device but with a small, independent board (smaller than the Clapton boost board). The system was activated with the push/pull tone control on the lower tone control. I put the battery inside the tone control cavity and used a rubber band to wrap the battery with some plastic to keep it from shorting on the switch or any of the wires. The Strat plus below has it using Chrome Dome Lace Sensors and the Ultra wiring configuration.

Mr X,

You have the coolest guitars mate! :D

Theres something about lace pups and active wiring that just seems to really work well. I've got hot golds with the Clapton boost and Lace colours with the Wilkinson one and both sound amazing!
