Hi Andy -- thanks for checking in 8) How's the new job? -- yes, Ceri really knows how to describe this process. The man should write a book!!

Followed the steps Ceri has outlined. Below is a photo -- looks just about exact to what he had shown earlier.

Feeling real good about the bridge position. Measured from the nut w/ 3 different measuring sticks. Checked the pivot of the tremolo -- plenty of space in the spring claw cavity to rock it completely down, not that I'll ever jack on that trem arm near that much

I'm thinkin' it's good to drill the screw holes on Friday. If anybody sees anything strange please post...

Startin' to get excited about this project again :D

Thanks, Kozyman

Nope, it all looks absolutely good to me. :D

So glad you sent back the other bod. No matter what, it couldn't have been made to be as nice as this new one!

Watching with pleasure...

No, indeed. His last posts were on a thread where things turned very unpleasant. I hope he's just been absent on vacation or something and isn't through with this place. Be such a shame for one of the good guys to leave because of some shouting by a silly know-nothing kid...

Cheers - C

Guitar is looking good Kozy. I can't wait to see everything you have in store for this build. 8)

Kozy, I don't mean to hijack your thread but I just wanted to say I've gotten real-world help from Nikininja on these forums and I think he's a top bloke and his advice is top notch. As for the guy who gave Nik a hard time ... Nik said it best

I'll raise a glass to everything you've said, and I don't suppose my mate Ceri would mind joining me. 8)
Doc.

Kong, youre not hi-jacking my thread 8) . I'm interested in all input. And you folks who have these beautiful builds under your belt are the people I'm looking to for advice. Thank you all for the great info!

I did catch some of that "threadcrap" -- it's a shame that people feel a need to contaminate a nice thing with rhetoric and negativity.. Hope Niki looks in from timt to time. I'd love to hear what he has to say about my project.

On the update wire: Took the neck/body to my pop's workshop. Being the retired automotive model maker, he's working on a jig to be used with his drill press to drill the screw holes for the trem unit. He wants to make sure it ends up perfect -- That's my Dad -- the completist!! 8)

So that'll take a day or so to work out. Once he's got that straight, I'll be back at the shop to get my hands on this thing again :D

Wouldn't be surprised if Ceri already has s 'squidget' to do just that. 8)

Ah - I'm ashamed to admit Ceri in fact doesn't have any such squidget. He just works by eye/hand coordination - and that ain't the most reliable. (Must get round to buying a bigger pillar drill...)

However, one Forum user (was it Mr Xhefri, by any chance?) came up with a very tidy idea: using a Dremel installed in its plunge router base unit, with a drill bit in the chuck. You position it correctly and then use the plunge feature to drill down into the wood. The router base keeps the bit vertical to the wood surface.

Very neat! I have yet to try it - but I will! :D

I guess you could try the same thing with a grown-up carpenter's router - but you'd have to find a variable sized chuck to hold the drill bit (they are normally only quarter or half inch on routers). I think that might be an insuperable problem. But I stand to be corrected.

Cheers - C

PS: welcome to the Forum, Joel Martin. :)

Ditto the bienvenidos....required reading is now Ceris' 75 page thread on how to resurrect a guitar body from the ashes. 8)

Ha! Hi Andy: that's sending me straight off to dig out my Axminster Tools catalog. What's that gizmo called, do you happen to know? Bound to be cheaper than a big new pillar drill...

Hot damn - the amount of time I've spent studying Axminster's catalog and never noticed that "squidget"! Well, it won't escape me much longer - big thanks Andy! :D

Now. Must go easy on the Carlsberg. Very bad for your sea legs the next day (I'm finding). Photos of Ceri-the-Viking - soon.

Cheers - C

Aye -- I do like the Carlsberg m'self. Used to get 'em by the case in Windsor and bring 'em back for the campouts, picnics and such... That is until they slapped us with a huge duty. Tough to find here in Michigan, unfortunately.

That's a sweet looking squidget! Don't think mines gonna be quite that fancy...
