Hey Kozy!

Frank looks feck'in awesome! You've done a stella job with the trans- creamy white. Love it! 8)

Now there's that agonising wait for the laquer to cure. Still, you can get the pickguard wiried up and tested ready for installation.

Great stuff!

Andy

Very well done! That guitar is going to scream!!

But don't rush, you'll be glad in the final analysis that you didn't.

Hey - I seemed to miss the lacquering stage of this build, somehow.

Keen looking work, Kozy! Congrats to you! Do I have it right; this is your first time at painting a guitar body? A semi-trans like that is not at all the easiest place to begin yet you seem to have nailed it. Kudos to you, man!

Now the waiting - that's the trickiest bit of all. This is where you really have to show your superior builder skills. Patience is the key... :D

Cheers - C

Yes sir, this is my first time. Thanks for the kind words. The waiting is tough indeed. Now working on getting the wiring right with these old pups....

Here we are....

I've spent plenty of time waiting and the wait is now over...

A few details on the particulars. The finish came out very nice, but not without a few noticeable defects. Therefore I decided to keep the finish satin. It looks great to my eyes and resembles a closet classic. I've made the neck "roughed-up" looking to match. Not a worked-in relic, mind you. Just a well cared for oldie...

Other items of note I discovered: When I reset the bridge it slightly changed the positioning of the bridge and pick guard notch, which I had ground-out for the previous bridge position (oops). Now, I considered getting a new pick guard. But this one is nicely yellowed, so I decided to dremel the notch a bit larger to fit with the new bridge position. It works pretty well.

And, the pick-up wiring gave me fits. The bill lawrence pups have THREE wires, so it took me while to figure THAT out... But it does now work and it sounds FANTASIC!! One small problem - the neck pup is non-functioning. I had to put a jumper on the hot lead to extend the length of the wire, and I think it needs to be re-fixed together. I plan to go back to fixing that when I switch out the strings..

The photos just don't do this guitar justice. It plays great. Stays in tune, and looks simply marvelous. I'm delighted -- I would never have been able to get this completed this well, without the words of encouragement and assistance from Andy, Ceri, Kong, Niki, Xhefri, Impulse, Nutter and the rest of the gang here. You guys are all the best!

When I undo the pick guard to fix up that neck pup, I'll take some photos of the wiring so you get a peek 8)

Cheers to ya all!

WOW!!!

Nice work Kozy! That looks feckin great!

I'm really glad that after the way this thread started (with the first bod and all) you've ended up with a real stunner!

For your first go at finishing you've done an outstanding job. I'd be chuffed if my next spray job came out half as good as yours! :D

Keep us posted on that neck pup issue.

Congrats again mate! :D

Andy (very impressed!)

She's beautiful, Kozy! I really like the finish on neck and body, both have an extra piece of delight, the neck's got the awesome decal and the body's got those sweeeet pick-ups... wow! A great hat full of kudos to the Kozy Guitar Company! Is the senior as happy as the junior? ;-)

Play her well, she deserves it!

Well done!

Thank you all! The entire Kozy Guitar Company is proud, indeed

Funny, but most people that play the guitar don't at first register that it's not a real 70's strat. I've had to point out the decal multiple times to most folks before they put 2 and 2 together. This guitar plays as well as my 1978 gold finished strat...

Well, I never touched the body other than to position parts on it and take measurements, so I'm a bit confused by your comments :?: .

The store I bought this at is a pretty well known on-line guitar shop that sells some fairly well received budget line guitar gear, so its not like this guy routed it out in his basement.

In fact I bought my kids each an electric guitar and amp package last Christmas from Rondo in addition to family and friends purchasing guitars there. These items have no problem.

I had no reason to belive that this body would be the distaster it ended up being. And if this body had been advertised as needing carpentry, I'd be happy to have it as is.

You should have gone with Warmoth.
