Hi Kozy,

No biggy buddy! These things happen (to me often  ).

Looks like you've done a fine job with the dowels. I have every confidence that you'll sort that out without any further issues.

Might I suggest Motown as the gathering place. :D

I'll buy the beer, and fire up the amps and drums... 8)

Hope this is Ok with you Kozy mate, but after trying out some American alcoholic beverages recently, I believe it would best for all involved if I brought the beer  :D

Keep up the good work :D

Andy

Thanks Andy -- I feel pretty good about the outcome. Ahh, it was going too smoothly anyhow. Nothing like a fly in the ointment to keep things exciting.

Now brother, don't worry about the drinks. We don't have those watery lagers here. A couple IPAs, some stouts, and a box of Bass ales for the ladies...

Bless my soul, I feel I recognise the office block in the background of that photo. Looks mighty like Carlsberg's Copenhagen headquarters, unless I'm much mistaken - and I'm not.

The Carlsberg factory tour costs 65 Dutch kroner / £7.20 / $11.50 and gets you two nice big glasses of Carlsberg or Tuborg at the end. Mind you, that's much less generous than many brewery, distillery and vinyard tours I've been on. Heineken in Amsterdam and Plymouth Gin in Plymouth are much more open-handed, not to mention a long list of Scottish whisky distilleries. Erm, just for example... [Hiccup]

Nothing like a bit of hands-on knowledge, huh? :D

BTW Kozy, for an ignorant foreigner, where is D-Town, please? Does that mean Detroit? If so - we'll be right over! I'll be bringing bottles AND I'm more than ready to sample the local brew too! 8)

Cheers (no really, cheers!) - C

EDIT: currency error...

Ceri -- D-Town would be Detroit or the "D" as we call it :)

As for the local brews we have a lot to pick from in micro breweries. But the king of the tours is at Frankenmuth, an “Oktoberfest” themed municipality about 2 hours drive north from when I live, which is 20 minutes north of the city proper, in a suburban enclave called Harrison Township or "Boatown USA" as it's known to the locals.

We do get a bit nutty in the summer with the waterside tiki bar. It's a beach theme this time of year -- and Siberia in the winter...

Good Evenin' All,

I sawed the dowels off, chiseled away the excess and sanded...

Image

It's pretty flat now, with the slightest of raised wood. I'm afraid to over-sand  for fear I'll created dipped areas in the wood. It will be covered by the new bridge, plus I plan to put on a few good coats of sanding sealer before I re-drill the new pilot holes, so I'll have something yet to sand.

Almost back on track --

Helle fine folks of the Fender Forum (say that 10 times fast... ). I know you are dying to hear how the drilling went

Got to the Kozy family drill press and powered those babies out this afternoon. This is what I got...

Image

I bolted the new bridge in. Looks good from all angles...

Image

Image

Did a quick tape measure just to makes sure I'm still at 25.5 inches, not that I can make changes now, the holes are already drilled ...

Image

Funny thing :? --- Before I drilled, once I had the measurments lined up, we decided to use the plate of the old bridge as the master drilling template. So we drilled out the endpin holes and bolted them in. What I saw helped these recent hiccups make more sense...

Image

When I originally measured with this bridge set-up I used the trem cavity hole as a guide point to where the plate should rest when I made my measurements, being careful that the hole was not exposed and positioning my D and Hi-E saddles accordingly. Because the new trem assembly has a larger trem arm tab, and longer saddles screws with larger range of adjustment, it makes sense that the bridge would not fit when the using the old screw holes.

So it seems I'm in better shape now, as the bridge looks to be in a much more proper position. Dang, this is tricky. I can't wait to get the lacquering stage 8). But first more sanding sealer...

Kozy

Oh, another build thread! Yesssss!!! And this time even with touches of a mafia movie - what with you having to exchange bodies and all... well, I say: de-li-cious!

(oh- I'm still very new to the forum as a "poster" - although a long-time keen observer of build & resurrection threads. But still, hello everyone!)

Keep it up!

-Nutter (trying hard not to forget to bring the cannoli)

Thanks everybody!

Got some work done today. Another 5 coats of sanding sealer :D .

Been off the forum for a couple days. Trying to recruit a new bass player for my band. Ours bolted before a big gig scheduled the Saturday after next :x

We have some friends "guesting" for this gig, but we will need a permanent guy for a string of shows starting next month. If anybody in the Detroit area knows a good bass guitar player looking for a band, please let me know 8)
