I hope I am not imposing on anyone with this drama but I need help with the approximate re-sale value of my 1998 Fiesta Red California Strat with maple neck and fret board. The guitar was stolen and pawned by some thieving magpie for $130.00 then sold by the pawnbrokers for something closer to the true value. The condition was grade 10 on a 10 scale. It still had the clear vinyl film on the pick guard, the spring cover, the original receipt, price tag, owner’s manual, gig bag and was exactly as I bought in new in 1998. I need a current market value because the police caught this bum and the state’s attorney wants a current dollar value for restitution purposes. I appreciate any help.

Replacement value is not the same as secondhand value.

If it was mint take the new value and add the level of inflation for the years you have kept it in that condition. Which you would expect the similar if you went to a store and brought a NOS 1998.

However since your valuation will most likely a legal document I would get a proper quote from a guitar store.
