Many Strat players had always dreamed to have a Tele flavor on their guitar. That's why they replaced the Strat bridge pickup with a Telecaster unit. The result is amazing: quacky Strat sounds from the neck/middle mixed with lots of Tele twang and spank in the bridge.

Nice mod.

Here are some pics of Strats with a Tele bridge pickup. These guitars are not mine.

Cool! Strats with Tele bridge pickups have always interested me. If I get another Strat, I'll definately put a Tele pickup at the bridge. I attribute the Tele's twang to the baseplate attached to the bottom of the pickup. There is no baseplate on Strat pickups. For maximum Tele tone, having the pickup attached to the bridge instead of the pickguard would be nice. But then it's more Tele than Strat. Oh well, looks cool though. Not mine, but wish it was:

Seymour Duncan and DiMarzio make great-sounding Strat® pickups with a baseplate.

Definitely I go for the APST-1 Twangbanger in the bridge and two Vintage staggered SSL-1 in the middle & neck positions. Perhaps one of the best pickup combinations you might expect from Seymour Duncan. You'll get a lot of Tele® twang and spank from the APST-1 bridge pickup plus tons of Strat® snap and quack from the SSL-1 neck and middle pickups.
