I just couldn't resist... the new FSR Mex. Std. w/ sunfire orange flake finish. Just ordered it from Sweetwater...never dealt with them before but couldn't bring myself to go to the local GC for one that's been played and slobbered on. They seem pretty reputable and do set up and inspection...seems like a nice service. Suppose it will have to be re-set up as I'm swapping the neck with a large headstock rosewood board Warmoth I've had laying around. I'll post pics as soon as she gets here... I'm STOKED!!!

Congratulations! I stopped in the local Fender dealer last Friday and he had one on display. He didn't anticipate getting any more so I ended up putting it on layaway. I was kinda looking for a MIM to modify so now I gotta figure out what I want to do with it...

That should be a beauty when it arrives as the orange flake is a striking colour.I have 2 MIM Strats (an 09 Jimmie Vaughn and a 00 lefty strung right handed)and absolutely love them.

I'll probably do some tweaks as well...this is the neck I have ready for it. We'll see how I like the pickups...as long as the neck and middle sound good and straty I'll probably leave them be.

I should probably know this, but what does FSR stand for?

Factory Special Run? They've done this guitar in 3 different colors. The Orange flake definitely stands out. Pics please when you get it.

Yeah, it does stand out -- not your classic Strat look. I was looking for a basic MIM Strat to lug around to lessons, practice doing modifications, etc. You know, something I didn't care too much if it got dinged up. So, I'll still be looking for that "workhorse" Strat once this one's out of layaway...

Does it look like this.......

I walked into my local guitar shop, it had been on the floor for less then one hour, I was the first to play it, and I snapped it up.

I have dealt with Sweetwater. They even have a rep call or e-mail you to ask how you like your guitar. Cool.

They (Sweetwater) seem pretty on top of things...a guy called me shortly after placing my order on-line and made sure I didn't need anything else...not in a pushy way. Pretty impressive customer service thus far.

Yeah, that's the one. I didn't think the look of the neck matched the flashiness of the body so I'm planning to maybe tint the neck a little darker and make it glossy instead of satin finish... Now, if I could just find a Jimmy Vaughan neck to put on it....

Based on the pics in this thread and on the Sweetwater site, that is one sharp guitar! How cool would it look with a rosewood board and black pg, pu's and knobs!
