I have seen a black Fender American Standard Strat with serial number Z8227572 for sale - Does anyone know how much it is worth ?

The seller claims its 3 months old and its in mint condition.

Thanks

Mark

EDIT: It has a model number of 0110400-706

Well, he might of had it 3 months, but based on the serial number, it's a 2008/2009. So just do a search on ebay and see what 2008/2009 American Standards are selling for. I would guess about $600-$700

In new condition but used with the SKB and all the case yep $600-700.
Any damage or any hardware swapped out then less.

Be wary that it might have a problem unless its a store selling old stock or something. I guess you have to find out what his motivation for selling it is.

If you went into a store with $950 cash you could walk out with the same model new made in 2010 with full warranty.

ok thanks for your replies !

I wondered - if the pickups where to be replaced with a complete EMG DG20 set would this have a negative impact on price?

Any ideas what a complete fender standard pickup set in scratch plate is worth if I did get it and swap it out ?

Well that all depends on what that is worth to you. Those pre-wired EMG pg's run almost $300. If that's not what you want, I would continue your search unless you can get him to throw in the original pg and pickups.

Sorry I didnt explain myself very well - I was thinking that if I did get the guitar would I easily be able to :

1) Sell the existing pickups / guard in the guitar on ebay - Any ideas to value?

2) Replace the pearl pickguard on the "EMG-DG20" with a black one - Any ideas which one will fit the EMG-DG20 / USA Standard ?

3) Install this on the guitar.

Soldering isnt an issue for me but I dont want to do anything that would damage (i.e. routing wood out of the body for the battery is out of the question)

Any ideas if this is possibe and what this would do to the value of the final guitar ?

A friend of mine has a DG20 with a black pg. However, I would keep the guard and pickups that come with the strat in case you want to sell it down the road but keep the EMG's. You might not get enough for it to make it worth selling (to you).

Either one of those should work for you. I actually forgot about WD, that could be a more cost effective option without sacrificing quality.

$800 tops. You can find great used models for less then $700. Best source for guitar value is Guitar Center's used gear section....
