sweet neck, love the maple/maple personally. i just put together a partscaster with a 50's style fernandes neck and a mighty mite body. i had a 74 Strat that came right off the wall with a bird's eye maple neck. Like the song says I wish that I knew what I know now. when i was younger.

When the skunk stripe is even pretty, you know you got a choice neck!

Yea i looked thru just about every strat neck in the showcase and decided on this one...it had all the things i was looking for and it looked like a good grain in the photos...im impressed to say the least the nut is cut perfectly and just the finish is flawless

Is the wood raw, or already finished in nitro? It's hard to tell from the pic if it has finish already. Minwax makes a spray polyurethane you can get in matte... If you plan to do the rest in tung oil or tru oil, you could do the face of the headstock in poly and get a maintenance-free finish and still enjoy the benefit of a breathable finish on the largest percentage of the neck. Be sure to lay down a good base layer that is flat and smooth for the decal to sit on so it won't "suck" into the wood when you mist over it the first few coats.

Glad you like your neck. I'm waiting on a neck from Warmoth, It should be here Tues. or Wed., I'm hoping it lives up to the hype. So far dealing with Warmoth has been problem free. :D I had heard good things about USACG necks and tried to call them twice, they did'nt answer the phone and did'nt return my calls, so I guess thet did'nt need my business. :(

I ended up just going to a local Micheal's craft shop and bought some acrylic satin laquer...im testing it out on a spare piece of wood first just to see how it turns out before i go spraying my pretty new neck!
