That sounds like a cool idea. Maybe I should look into an el cheapo to set up just for slide.

Also think about going up a string size. This allows for more surface area for slide and strings. You might think that this is minascule but trust me it does make a difference

It is to my constant and great annoyance that I have never been able to master slide guitar. I envy you all who can play in this style.

I nearly bought this guitar recently, but my inability to do it justice induced me to walk away and not look back. :o(

Did you retune the guitar to open tuning?

What pitch is each string tuned to?

Anyone out there do much sliding on their Strat? I just picked up a glass slide after used all sorts of stuff for a while, and I think I might be serious about it.

I like to open tune to E7. I have glass bottle to that was shaped and ground perfectly at MacAbe's Guitar Shop. If I play slide I prefer heavier gauge string (.013s) with a reletively high action than how my Strat is setup so I have my acoustic/elecrtic Ovation for that purpose.

I use either my 57 Dano U1 or my 63 Supro Martinique for slide. For strings I either use 11's or 12's with fairly high action. I use bottle necks from booze and wine bottles that I cut with a ceramic tile saw. I also tune to open E or D. Be careful with open A, it's pretty tough on a setup especially an acoustic.

I don't like using my Strat for slide. Maybe if it was a hard tail it may be better. Nothing like the sound of a cheap guitar for slide. When watching slide player videos and listening to slide players, don't forget guys like Son House, Bukka White, Hound Dog Taylor etc. About 6 or 7 years ago I had the privilege of talking to blues greats David "Honey Boy" Edwards and Fruitland Jackson and they helped me with my slidework and turnarounds. Slide is seriously cool. Experiment with different slide thicknesses, lengths and materials. I use my pinkey so I can fret and dampen behind the slide.
