Hi,

i have been looking at the new 2010 deluxe american strats and have noticed that the HSS deluxe comes with a roller nut where as the regular deluxe does not, why is this? and is it better to have a roller nut rather than a normal one?

Cheers,

Larsson

The roller nuts help with tuning stability if you're a heavy bender/tremolo user. If you're not, the traditional nut would suit you just fine.

My guess?

Its just a differentiation in features as you move up the model chain.

If i were to fathom a guess, it would be that they may feel a player who would opt for the bridge humbucker would be more to wanting to play 80's hairmetal. and be a dive bomber on the tremolo.

I have an 09 HSS Deluxe with a roller nut, I added two more springs and I love it . That thing is rarely out of tune, I do some serious bends and once in a while some trem and no problems. I wish I could say the same for my MIM Strat, locking tuners were a big improvement, but I think a roller nut on my MIM would be a great addition.
