As the title says. If there is a lot of cutting to my guitar (besides a little at the nut) I don't think I'll do it, but if it is a pretty easy installation I'll go for it. Thx.

No not at all. You have to move the tremposts outwards then carve some wood out of the body too.

Rather than hack up a nice Strat, why don't you look around for a genuine Strat with a Floyd Rose

They were discontinued in 2004 but had a run several years earlier than that as well in the late 1990's

So should be some floating around.

Deluxe Locking Tremolo Assembly - an American Series 2-point tremolo with locking bridge saddles. With this bridge, you no longer need to perform any harmful surgery in your Strat or Tele guitar. Used with the LSR Roller Nut and Fender/Ping locking machineheads.

This Floyd Rose-designed product has been discontinued (?*) in 2007.

? = possible reintroduction for the 2010 American Deluxe HSS and other similar models.

* = updated with a copper-infused steel block.

Sure, let me just tell my broker to hold off on the yacht payment while I buy a new guitar instead of just a tremolo system! :D

By the time you buy the FR and pay to have it installed, you can pick up a used strat with one already installed. The GC in Cerritos, Ca has two MIM strats w/Floyd's hanging in their shop for less than $400. That's cheaper than it would cost to have one added aftermarket.

Exactly... never understood the idea of going to all that trouble when u can get one and still have the yacht.

Better change your guitar broker :-)

I had no idea it would cost so much to get done. Floyd Rose systems are pretty inexpensive on ebay. Didn't think it would cost that much to get it put in. I don't need it that bad, just thought it'd be nice to have.

I got my FR off of ebay for $150 brand new in a box. The guy I took it to for installation cut me a deal because he does work on my amp and other guitars as well...still it cost me $150, normally $200.
