i came on two Fender Locking tuners .

The brushed one and some chrome one .. doesnt have the F-logo on them yet still in the fender bag and original replacement parts

http://cgi.ebay.com/Genuine-Fender-Brus ... 48393a8d32

and some chrome one have a F logo on them

http://cgi.ebay.com/BRAND-NEW-Fender-De ... 2eadc0939b

Question

1. is there a difference between the two ??? . any recommendation ( better than ... because ) ???

2. Which one are on the american deluxe ???.. do they have the F or not ???

3 . do both fit as a drop-in replacmeent for an american stadnard hss ???

here's the scoop- i purchsed the set with the "f" logo about 3 months ago, and promtly installed them on my 4 mo. old hss mim strat. from beginning to end it took me about an hour including stringing. i'm very happy- stays in tune better, and re-stringing is easier.

if you buy these, there are 2 things to remember. first, you will get 3 each of 2 different size tuners. the tall ones goe on the e, a, and d strings, while the shorter ones go on the g, b, and e strings. there was no installation guide with the tuner.

second- and probably more important- is not to overtighten while installing. you just want to snug it- or you'll risk splitting the headstock'

i believe that you'll be happy with either set- it looks like one has the brushed finish, and the other is chrome.

just my 2 cents worth.....

I have both. I believe the plain ones are made by Schaller, while the "F" logo tuners are made by Ping. I'm well-pleased with either style.

It's your guitar, but I'm not a big fan of the "F" logo on the tuners.

It's quick and easy, and I like them a lot. I've got an extra set of F logo'd ones I'm putting up on Ebay this Friday.

I bought a set of the fender deluxe locking tuners with the "F" logo for my american standard tele, super easy to install and I happen to like the "F" logo, I think it looks kinda cool. Super easy to re-string and I think there is more sustain as well. It's a nice easy upgrade.

All I can say is you will love them no matter which version. As far as the question above. The deluxe models came with both the F and without. It depends on the year. I have a deluxe made in 2000 and it came from the factory with the locking non-F type.

I believe later they came out with the F version. Someone more knowlagable on this subject that I can chime in. :)

I've got the Schaller ones (no "F" on them), and the're great. It makes restringing much easier and faster, and they do stay in tune better than the standard ping tuners.

HERE is the definitive scoop on these!

The "F" stamped ones are made in Indonesia....(read the package)

The regular non"F" ones...the brushed ones are made in GERMANY (again READ the package)

I'm assuming the GERMAN ones are made by Schaller.

I own BOTH.....and prefer the German made ones!

I had to replace one of the "F" stamped ones already. Thank God ...I found someone on E-Bay who sold seperate keys!

It is a personal taste. I prefer brushed metal over shiny metal.
