I was wondering if theres a special reason why HSS strat seem to be more common in rosewood .

Stratocaster deluxe power strat ( HSS ) = rosewood only

Highway one HSS = rosewood only

American special HSS = rosewood only

i was wondeirng if theres an explanation for this (tone wise , sound wise ) or its simply Fender that keep only Maple fingerboard on the American standard hss and deluxe hss .

ive always wanted a HSS highway one .. but maple fingerboard .

it also seem like most Fat Strat on sell on ebay are rosewood . is their reason why people choose rosewood over maple for HSS ???

a lot of japanese fat strat were only rosewood .

Interestingly, I've wondered the same thing for years about Strat-styled guitars that have a humbucker in the bridge but don't offer maple boards. That's the major attraction I have about the new 2010 AmDeluxe models.

I think it has nothing to do with "tone-factor" but only manufactoring reasons.
Maybe they don't want to have so much permutation of the different configs?!

For example: back in the days (2005 hehe) there weren't any hardtails with HSS.
So I had to buy a SSS and pimp it to an HSS. Of course I went for a maple neck ;)

p.s.: wow that was my first post although registered in 2007

Just drop a maple neck from any Standard, HWY1 and US Special SSS Strat into your favorite HSS guitar.

You'll encounter some problems if you own the Standard HSS Lock, because the rosewood neck is altered to accept a Floyd Rose locking nut.

But if you want absolutely having the Standard HSS Lock with a maple neck, Fender will offer the guitar with a maple fingerboard as an option.

However, I'm afraid that the maple neck option on the Standard HSS Lock will significantly increase the price.

Not only the American Deluxe.

The American Standard HSS has both rosewood and maple fingerboards as OEM standard.

The Standard, HWY1 and US Special HSS models are currently available only with a rosewood fingerboard. But if the demand for a maple fingerboard option grows, Fender will eventually offer these HSS guitars with an all-maple neck to respond to the needs of its customers.
