As to your guitar, it looks like you did a very nice job, I don't think Stevie would have played one with a humbucker in it.
As I remember his yellow strat was once owned by a guitarist Vince Martell, from a late 60's band Vanilla fudge and he has installed 4 humbuckers in it.
Stevie liked the way it played and had a taditional pick-up set and guard installed.
He felt since the area under the guard was hogged out it had a nice acoustic quality.
