This is good to know.

I recall reading somewhere on some other subject that mentioned post CBS transitional period guitars and something about the decals.

I've often wondered how they get away with making branded Fender strat clones ike the Hamer slammer and others.

Too bad Fender doesn't sell their own neck and bodies separate in which they could put their own logo on it less serial numbers.
This way a customer could custom build their own strat using genuine Fender parts but could not sell it as a genuine factory built instrument per
the built in telltale markings or lack thereof.

Seems like there are a bunch of people buying strats and teles and taking them apart and selling the parts online and make money off the parts.

I haven't pulled it apart yet, but now the person that sold this to me is back peddling a bit and is telling me it's an Allparts neck.. what's the chances of that? And is that a good neck if it is?

thx everybody for all the good info!

I would still take it apart to see what the body really is, what the pickups are, etc. The fact that the seller didn't disclose the replacement neck, put a forged decal on it and tried to pass it off as an all original 1989 American Standard puts the whole guitar in doubt to me.

I haven't heard much about Allparts necks; I'm not sure if they make their own or they just resell parts from other manufacturers.
