In leau of what others have posted concerning the new 2010 ebony and ivory american std. strats, can anyone please send me some pics of the vintage white strat? It would be very much appreciated. I saw some pictures of the black strat, but I wonder if that truly is the real deal. FCS says they have not shipped yet. Also, the pics of the black strat I saw, had 11 screws for the pickguard. I thought the real deal ones would have only 8. Thanks in advance for any info!!!

I just purchased a 2010 FRS American Standard Stratocaster in Vintage White from a local guitar store. I'll be glad to send you pix if you send me your email address, because I don't know how to post them here.

The guitar body is a lovely yellow, and it has a one-ply white pickguard, but it uses 11 screws instead of 8 like the "real" vintage ones use. Also, the description says it is supposed to have a "Limited Edition" neckplate, but it just has the regular "Fender Corona" one. Everything else about it is exactly the same as on a regular American Standard Stratocaster, so except for the "vintage" color and the "vintage" pickguard, I don't see what's so vintage about it. I'm glad I bought it, though, mainly because of the unusual color. - Michael

sorry to say...you did not get one of the limited factory runs....i would call the place where you purchased this guitar and ask for your money back. I just recieved mine from sweetwater.com. The real ones do have the one-ply 8 screw pickguard and the official fender limited edition neck plate. It is one sweet axe. hope this helps. good hunting!

Hmmm, that's interesting. I did some snooping and discovered that Fender apparently made two slightly different versions of this guitar. Sweetwater sells one in Vintage White with the 8-hole one-ply pickguard and a "Limited Edition" neckplate for $1099.

I bought my "Vintage White" model from another online retailer for $999 — the same price as a regular Strat. It has an 11-hole one-ply pickguard and the regular "Fender Corona" neckplate. Today I looked at one of these in a local guitar store, and it was exactly like mine in every way (including the price). I also checked out other online sellers that posted "real" photos of their guitars for sale (not stock photos). Nearly everyone now seems to be offering the same version I have. (Sweetwater is apparently sold out.)

My dealer finally provided me with the actual spec sheet from Fender for "American Standard Stratocaster Factory Special Run #017-0115-741." It mentions only a "single-ply white vintage style" pickguard and doesn't say anything at all about the neckplate. What's interesting is that it says this guitar is supposed to have PARCHMENT pickup covers, knobs, etc. but all the ones I've seen (even Sweetwater's) have all-white stuff.

By the way, the spec sheet says: "Fender Special Run — 25 pieces" which seems unbelievably small to me, since I've seen half a dozen stores sell these. But the store here in Memphis only got one, so maybe so.

Hi, I am new to the forums and I too ordered one of these 2010 Fender Limited Edition FSR American Stratocasters in "Ivory" color. I also encountered inconsistencies in these special run limited edition guitars where one online seller showed it with a neck plate saying "Limited Edition" and another seller showed it with a regular standard neck plate that said "Corona Calif". I first had ordered mine from one seller and after noticing their photos of the guitar showing the regular neck plate that did not say "Limited Edition" on it, I immediately had them cancel my order. Then I went to the other website whose photos show the neck plate that says "Limited Edition" on it and ordered one from them. It is due to arrive this coming Tuesday, so now I am worried which version of the guitar I will be getting! This has me worried now. I ordered a Limited Edition Ivory FSR guitar and I want it to be clearly marked as a Limited Edition. Also on another note, I don't know why or where you folks are getting a 2010 Fender Limited Edition FSR Amer Strat in "Vintage White" color? As far as I have read, this FSR is in "Ebony" and "Ivory" colors. No vintage white. Unless that is another special run with only 25 made? The Ivory colored one I went for says that only 150 units were made. Same for the black one, only 150 made. I cannot believe that some stores still had them in stock at this time! Slow economic times I guess. (or can it be there are counterfeits being produced here?) I hope not. Please explain your "Vintage White" 2010 FSR? Show some pics if possible. I'd like to see what the color looks like compared to "Ivory". Thanks! BTW, I got a new Fender GDEC-3 Thirty amp to go with my new strat! Awesome amp! You all should try one.

Thanks for that info Peter. So it does state specifically that the neck plate should say "Limited Edition" on it. Also interesting, it says that the neck only is coated in nitro, the body is urethane finish.
I therefore wonder about all these sellers that are selling a guitar as Limited Edition but do not have the real Limited Edition neck plate. Are they legit or someone has painted up a few necks and faking them? Can't be sure until we can get an offical answer from Fender themselves.

I just took delivery of my 2010 Limited Edition American Stratocaster in Ivory color this evening. Wow! It looks even better live and in person! The thing is beautiful! And I am happy to report that mine has the words "Limited Edition" stamped into the neck plate also! The finish is beautiful, dang near perfect. The neck fits my fretting hand perfectly too! My fingers fall right into place for chords! Amazing for getting a guitar like this sight unseen over the internet. Beautiful, absolutely thrilled with it.

I do have a question on the serial numbering on these units though. My serial number is in the range of like 10 004xxx. But all the serial numbers I've seen posted on the dealer sights show serial numbers range much much higher like 10 08xxxx. I wonder if I got an earlier one from one of the earlier batches made? How do we decipher or interpret this serial numbering system for year 2010 FSR models? (I know the first two digits ("10") mean it is year 2010 manufactured) what about how they name the rest of the serial number scheme?

Good question. I think we got early ones because they now put US right before the serial number along with made in USA under the serial... Mine just has the serial with no US before the number.... but says made in USA under the serial.....who knows... all I know is we got some bad $@! guitars.....ENJOY.... :D

Indeed! This American Stratocaster model is on bad #$!* guitar. I think all the modern improvements they've made to it really make it one of the best strats ever, especially for the price.
Yes, mine also says made in USA under the serial number on the neck.
Mine also does not have the prefix letters "US" just numbers for the serial.
It is even better we got the original older earlier made ones I guess.
The place I bought mine from has already sold out on these Limited Editions! Glad I got one in my favorite color. Now I am thinking about going after a Gibson Les Paul Studio... don't tell my wife though! :D

My Ivory plays better and looks better then my 2009 American Deluxe with a maple neck... They spent some extra time with the neck on these Limited Editions.. It actually plays as good as she looks and she looks #$@*&!% awesome.......The neck is so cool I want to lick it...lol.. About the LesPaul studio, go for it.. I bought mine in 95 brand new and she still plays awesome...no fret job or setup and the studio plays awesome... Im not brand loyal. I think you need one of each...lol.. Strat a tele and a Les Paul....and thats just a nice start.... cheers smokinfingers....enjoy your new baby.... :D

Fender is really confusing when it comes to these "Limited Edition" and "FSR" offerings. Now that I have received my ivory colored 2010 Limited Edition FSR American Stratocaster, and see the model number is 017-0113-(705), it is different than your "Vintage White" colored FSR strat. You showed your model number as 017-0115-741. So this tells me that indeed these are two separate FSR models. Mine came with a 1 ply white pickguard with 11 holes (which I prefer because it locks down the plate more solid from my point of view) and mine also came with the neck plate that says "Limited Edition" stamped into it. Since you said Fender sent you info on your Vintage White FSR saying only 25 were made, it does seem different than the Ebony and Ivory offerings which say that only 150 each were made.
I am thinking now that there is a distinction here between "Limited Edition FSR" and just plain "FSR" specification (notice, they don't say "Limited Edition" on yours, therefore the neck plate does not say "Limited Edition". I wonder if that is the reason some 2010 FSR's still say regular "Corona California" like your model. It is just my thought here, I am not saying this is the case. Only a knowledgable Fender rep can tell us for sure.

There appears to be some similar, but different FSR or Limited Run Strats available. I purchased one that has the regular Fender Corona neckplate, Vintage White with single ply 11 hole pickguard. I sent the serial # to fender and got all the specs. It is one of a Special Run of only 30 guitars. Not the same one as the Ebony & Ivory Strats or the one that Sweetwater sells. Here is a picture & specs. from Fender.

Hi Randy1, well that explains it. There are different 2010 FSR's each for the various dealers. Apparently each dealer requests their own special specifications and lesser quantitys. So you have even a more rare model being that only 30 were made. These are very nice guitars for the price!
Thanks for sharing your info and picture! :)
