Hi id like to know if anyone can tell me what is the dc resistance ( bridge ) (K )

of the diamondback humbucker ( factory equipped in fender stratocaster HSS )

im looking for a metal pickup ... im pretty sure the diamondback is not a high output pickup ....

im thinking about a Jeff beck or something in the high output like 16.4 k suitable for heavy metal , punk rock .( lots of fast palmuting ) think metallica, megadeth etc..

any recommendation for my HSS strat ... the pickup need a high output .

my first thought was the Seymour Duncan SH-6 Duncan Distortion Humbucker or the SH-4 Jeff Beck .. which one is more agressive ??

Thank you .

but id really like to know the output of the diamonback or approximatly ... is it in the 8 k or 12 k or 14 k .... impretty sure its fairly low ... but i would like to be sure .

2 -- another quesiton would be .. is it more trouble for a lutheir to switch the humbucker if i have the S1 switch ??? do you think ill charge more .

IIRC, the Diamondback is in the mid 11K area in terms of DC resistance. As I've said many times though, DC resistance isn't the 'bonafide' indicator of a pickup's output.

As to the JB vs. the Custom for your stylings, I'd go with the Custom without hesitation.

On your pickguard, in between the two existing height adjustment screw holes on the bass side of your Diamondback, a third hole will have to be drilled to properly mount the Duncan. This might be an extra charge. Aside from this, there is no reason why a competent tech would charge you more to switch the humbuckers, regardless of whether the guitar has an S1 switch or not as either way, only five wires are being unsoldered and resoldered. Note that you don't need a luthier, per se. A luthier is an outright guitar builder and many luthiers do not deal with electronics at all.

I just put in a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge of my HWY 1 HSS strat and it sounds amazing, very articulate, and responsive with a "SWEET" sounding (via way of ALNICO V mags) tone, high output and tight harmonics..... I know tone is all in the ears, but I have played with the stock pup (atomic humbucker- 16.4 DC Resist) and it sounded pretty good I guess for stock..... but once I put the JB in man the thing came alive.... just my 2 cents.... the JB with the 250k POTS (standard in Fender) makes a good combo...

Haven't heard the Custom in a strat though so I cant tell you anything on it... might be even better, but I really love the sound of my strat now
