I don't even think Hendrix's Woodstock Stratocaster sold for that much.

Well I just read through this guys listing and I personally don't believe it. He doesn't care if he sells it, he doesn't care what it is really worth, he has autistic family members, multiple grandchildren, he's a quad. Wow....That is a lot to believe. But hey who am I? Just my $.02.

Those old pics are probably authentic, but I would consider them evidence that that old guitar has been beat up and banged around. A little guy like that surely clunked it just trying to hold it up. Plus it was already 6 years old when he got it.

I truly believe that even if I had money to burn, I wouldn't blow it on overpriced items like Ferrari's or Picasso's and especially not million dollar guitars just because I could.

But that's a topic for another whole thread isn't it...

Cheers,

n.

Meh. I'll take a new '57 reissue for 1/2500 the price.

The white strat pictured on Jeff Beck's Wired album would be an awesome score. Or David Gilmour's black start.

Fret not! As you did on that guitar. :P Ye gods.....the attitude of the seller. Even as a bad joke. We've already wasted more ink on it than it was worth.

As to the photos, they look period correct. I see a lot of old time photos from this period. In fact there is a whole magazine devoted to the subject. The Strat is probably the real deal, too.

I have two schools of thought on this:

1. It sounds like the guy doesn't really know about selling guitars. He's just a guy who owns a '57 Strat.

2. It's fraud. It could be someone who found old pictures of a kid who owned the guitar and now he's trying to selling a guitar like it. I'd like to see what the guitar looks like now.

$5mill? No way.

He says, "I don’t need the money and don’t give a damn if I ever sell her."

I second that ZZ

I think the photos are untouched and the guys basically does not know what he is doing. In dealing with collectible cars I have seen this same thing. Some one has a old Ford behind there house they think is worth Fort Knox because it is an antique!

As of today the auction is still there, just ended: 220615555100

Ah - by amazing coincidence I have an old Ford behind my house. Here's a completely convincing photo of both:

I'd like to sell it, I won't settle for a penny less than $5 million, and I'm honestly not fussed whether I get it - because I'm a quadriplegic and so obviously don't need the money.

Nothing to doubt there...

Well, you can't blame a guy for trying.

Actually you can, but at least he's trying his luck. Never know, there are a lot of stupid rich people, mabye he'll get his 5 million
