If you love the guitar so much but you are unable to play it, then what would really make you happy? Knowing that your Strat is in the hands of someone who would love it, cherish it, and wouldn't part with it or that it's in the hands of a collector who wouldn't care at all to sell it depending how the damn wind blows. If the latter would rest easy on your mind, then fine, have it your way. Just know that it wouldn't have as good of a home as it would in the hands of A PLAYER.

Not for nothing, but if someone was willing to give me $5 MILLION for a guitar like that - they could use it as kindling for all I would care.

$5 MILLION is life-altering - and a lot of coin to pass up due to a "guitars are meant to be played" principle.

My Strat is the real deal.........
I stamped my name on the back of the neck before I let it outta my sight.....

You people don't know how lucky you are to be able to walk anywhere, anytime you want to.... Hell I can't even go into any stores in my home town, because they all have steps......

I would pay 5 million, just to use my hands and fingers to play her again......

Looks legit to me (but there are issues that make you go "hmmm...").

This all may be true, and the last bit sucks for sure, but it matters here, why?

I think I would likely too - if I was unlucky enough to need to AND if I could afford it, but I still would not pay $5 Mil for this guitar (or any other most likely! ;) ).

It's like anything else, if you want to sell something, you price it accordingly. If you don't, you put a rediculous amount on it.

for a vintage like that, IF you really want to sell it, put a tag of 15k on it.

Again, I don't want to accuse you of lying. I really don't. But I will be honest and say I am having a hard time believing that's an original '57 Strat. That little detail about the decal is enough for me to question it a bit. Again, like I said earlier, I could be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time. However, something like this should have a proper appraisal and be correctly dismantled with said dismantling properly documented to back up what you are claiming.

Yeah, but you didn't sell it.

I really do not want to insult you. I really don't because, in the off chance I am completely wrong -- and I'm not claiming I right and I stress that -- I would feel very guilty insulting someone with your condition, if you are telling the truth and this isn't some tall tale meant to attract attention to yourself. That is a very easy thing to do, especially with access to dozens and dozens of photos through Google Images.

The internet is full of liars and sociopaths, so, again what I said earlier I'll say it again now -- I don't meant to call you a liar, but I still have a hard time believing you.

I also still stand by what I said earlier, no matter if this is true or whatever: Sell this to the right person for a reasonable amount of money if you want to let go of it, not an idiot collector who doesn't even know what a G-Chord is, much less what a G-String is supposed to do (no double entendre intended). Of course, I can't force you to do that but I know what would make me happy if I were handicapped and wanted to part with a cherished instrument.

i don't think your trying to lay a guilt trip on people for you being crippled is working on these folks. Bottom line is 5 mill for a guitar is retarded and not worth it, i don't care if Hendrix or SRV licked every inch of the guitar.
Saying you want 5 mill for it because of sentimental value is also stupid, as stated countless times in this thread if you want somebody to cherish and use the guitar like you did before your accident then put a price tag on it that is closer to the real value of the guitar. If not then put the guitar back in the closet or where ever you had it before and let it rot because of your stupidity.

end rant.

See how the letter "O" in "TREMOLO" lines up directly with the letter "T" in "STRATOCASTER"?

Even more obviously different is where the word TREMOLO starts - on Jim's the T in TREM... is located (well) after the T in STRATOCASTOR above it; on the Reissue it starts pretty much under it, and the other linked "original", and the few others I have checked out, it starts (well) before. Either the gap is bigger between SYNCH... and TREMOLO on Jim's, or more likely it appears that STRATOCASTOR is different (too)?

It's something I find odd, anyway. I do understand Fender liked to change up suppliers quite often back during the glory days, but quality and detail usually stayed pretty consistent.

Not the same as a reissue, not the same as the original you linked, just different... ???

I hate to say this but I'm going to...yeah we're lucky to be able to walk around...and it's bad that you're in that chair...but a month ago I knew a healthy young 26 year old husband and father of a 1 year old son,who was killed in Iraq, blown to bits by a suicide car bomber, they couldn't even find all the pieces... and that is worse than a lot of other things....10 MILLION wouldn't even help that family get over the grief.
I hope you sell your guitar....good luck.

The kid in the picture was holding a ratty acoustic guitar and the photo's were doctored to replace it with the strat...

all this debate on a guitar's water decal and such..

clearly faked photo's along with the 'christmas' stocking stuck to the curtain... pleazzzze.

Dear Eracer_Team, You must not have read this whole thread. The issue of the faked pictures was cleared up a long time ago. They are not fake. When I read this thread I just smile. It is funny how worked up some people get about a guy with a serious disability making a statement on eBay after seeing how much a Picasso painting sold for and thought, What the hey...... I do not think he really thought he would get 5 mil, but just maybe if someone paid that kind of money for a Picasso painting then just maybe they would be crazy enough to give him 5 mil for an old strat. I think the whole thing is funny and really don't care about much else! After all, any of us who are serious about Strats know the guitar is not worth nothing even close to 5 mil. The whole thing has been fun and entertaining.....
