i am a couple of bucks short of 5 million at the moment, but that aside,

are those pictures really from 1963, or have they been doctored to make them look like 1963? that guitar looks really out of place in relation to the rest of the picture. Like they have dressed the kid up as a beatle and given him a 57 reissue.

seriously, whether it's phoney or not... when was a guitar worth more than several houses?

The guy looks legit...

a decent guitar - maybe, not all original, and even if it was it would be just a bit expensive for my needs!

I tell you, the only guitar I would EVER think about buying for anywhere near that much money (IF I ever had that much money to throw around) would be Buddy Holly's last strat - now THAT is a story!

Gotta be a spoof, no?

Some of those pictures look mighty Photoshoppy to me, especially the first color one. But hey, five mil for a guitar with replacement tuners and nut on the basis of some dubious fuzzy photographs - heck, why not?

Bidding ended with zero interest. There's a message in that...

Cheers - C

Yeah Buddy's Strat would be a great one to have.
I would like to have the white Woodstock Strat that Jimi played the national anthem on.
What is at the top of the pickguard on the 5 million Strat?

Amazing what you can find on facebook...even an old picture of this EBay seller in a wheel chair, along with shots of his kids and grandkids.

Could be the story is true.

The 1st picture though reminds me of something like this:

Hmmm..anyone want a $5Mill #2 pencil, used by Mike Jordan?

It looks like the plastic protective film thats on the new ones. Did they have that option in 1950's?

He might have been throwing that out at that silly price seeing if someone would bid on it from a sympathy/charity angle ...

funny you should say that, a 58 reissue CIJ strat was waiting for me round the back of the house when i got home, just as well the local robbers were on vacation.
Its similar to Buddy Hollys last strat the 3 tone burst, albeit with texas special pups.

She is sweeeeeeet :)

Not even a Clapton played guitar will sell for that much. There's a vintage strat at a local Guitar Center in Michigan selling one for $45,000 that's in Mint condition. Unless that guitar was hand made by Leo himself with a serial number of 1, not a chance it will ever sell in the six to seven figure mark...
