Alex Lifeson started life in 1953, one of the greatest progressive guitarists, Guitarist for Rush since 1968 which skyrocketed him onto the world stage. A little history way back when. He first recorded using a black Stratocaster on the Rush album A Farewell to Kings recorded in 1977. Alex modified his 1977 stratocaster, in 1979, with a 1957 humbucker classic, a gibson toggle switch on the lower bout, a floyd rose, and the master volume/tone was rewired; GO ALEX!
He used that modified guitar for various performances including Permanent Waves tracks, for the leads and recording. In the 80's, Alex procured a couple more stratocasters and modified them in the same manner, they were white and red, perhaps for the colors of the Canadian flag, who knows? GO ALEX! Pure Genius!
