MOST DEFINITELY NEVIN!!!!

really this kind of question is way to subjective. How does one rate "the best"? By how fast they are, or the emotion that have or style? I saw Clapton and Santana play together and for weeks there was discussions by my guitar playing friends who blew who away. You can't compare Clapton (Blues style) with Santana (Spanish flared Rock). Two different styles, both great in their own venue.

+1 eventhough I already posted this is along the lines on what I should have said

I'm my favorite strat player. How's that for arrogance? LOL!

As for the best living Strat players I would have to say Lincoln Brewster and Eric Johnson.

Unless Clapton passed away and the media totally skipped over it, the answer is Clapton.

Top secret stuff. They are hand wound by a little old woman in Big Beaver, Pennsylvania.

If you haven't heard of John Frusciante, he the former guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. His main guitar is a 1962 Strat with Seymour Duncan antiquity pups. It has been reliced the old fashioned way. I think he has to be on the list somewhere.

Here is a link to the Peppers playing at the Abby Road studio.

I have absolutely loved David Gilmour's playing for decades - who hasn't?

However, I've loved this guy for just as long. And seeing as I just saw him absolutely tear it up this past Monday night in concert -- I am going to have to cast my vote for Jeff Beck.

Frusciante is fine but not even in the same league as Beck.

I'm a little tired of, "Who is the best (Insert name here)" questions.

I once had a guy tell me that Brian May was a terrible guitar player.

Heck I made a most foolish statement once of saying that the Edge wasn't that good.

The bottom line is...
Wait for it...

It's all a matter of taste!

I'm not a big fan of speed demons, but they are good guitarists. They don't play anywhere near as well I a do, and I can't do what they do.

Two of my favorite Strat players I ever saw Buddy Guy and Stacy Mitchheart. I also think Andy Summers is a great Strat player, too. Well then there is that guy from Pink Floyd (Please excuse the sarcasm. David Gilmour is very good too). In the end Clapton during the "From the Cradle" tour is the most amazing playing I've ever seen.

Everyone is different and everyone has their strengths and weaknesses.

To answer your question: I'm the best Strat player I know.

I don't know whether anyone mentioned Ed King of Skynyrd fame, but one listen to Sweet Home Alabama and others tell what he can do with a Strat.

There is no "best" in my humble opinion.

Although there is no one (alive or dead) that can be selected as the "Best Strat Player" We can discuss who plays the "Best Strat" and that will be unquestionably Eric Clapton playing the Custom Shop Mastercraft Todd Krauss "CRASH" (John Matos) Painted Graffiti Strat.....John did 5 of these for Eric...My personal favorite (Crash 3) was sold at Cristies to raise monies for Eric's recovery Crossroads Center. Todd and John did 50 of these for Fender and everyone of them is a masterpiece! By far the best Strat you can have!
