Hi all.

Here goes my first post here, I was reading the post who between SRV, Hendrix and Clapton was the best stratocaster player, and I was thinking, well all three are but two are no longer with us, and the "Saint" effect comes in once and artist has left us.
It's hard to point out anything unfaltering about someone who has past on, so I think it would be a more fair question to ask, who do you think is the best Strat player who is still with us?

I will give you my three picks, please don't feel you need to agree with them and do please feel free to add to the list.

1) Kenny Wade Shepherd.

2) Eric Johnson.

3) Yngwie Malmsteen.

So......who do you feel should be added?

You should title it "who is the one you like the best, " because that's what these type questions elicit.

There are many parameters to consider, but it comes down to personal taste, as there are many super guitarists to choose from and its impossible to quatify something as subjective as the musical experience.

There's one thing I know for sure. It's not me!

Personal favorite:

David Gilmour

If I'm not mistaken, he was voted at one time as the greatest Strat player.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd is my favorite though I don't love the voice of his vocalist Noah. He plays with as great a mix of feeling and proficiency as anyone out there.

Technically, Yngwie and Eric Johnson are probably as good as it gets, just not my style and a lot of showing off for the sake of showing off.

If you get a chance go to youtube and check out Kenny Wayne playing Voodoo Child (slight return) and then watch the G3 version of it with Vai, Satriani and Yngwie play it together. Even though the G3 guys play 10x as many notes, Kenny Wayne's version is so stinking solid.

Well, I was going to say Nevin. But since everyone else seems to like him so much now, it looks like he's sold out.
