Hi. I've got an all Koa Strat (body and neck) with Texas Specials loaded in it. The sound I'm getting is not at all what I expected and it's not that great. On all settings, the guitar sounds a bit thin and harsh. I'm playing through a Blues Deluxe. The strat does have a pair of Tone Stylers in place of the pots. Any ideas? Different pickups? I'm open to any and all ideas. Thanks.

Well first off, got pics of it? Sounds like a beauty. :P
As far as your sound goes, Tex Specs through a Blues Dlx should definately be pretty fat.
Try some new pots, and/or if it's a used amp, new tubes.
By the way, are you talking about clean, dirty, or both?

Tone Stylers? I'm guess I'm not up on things, I have not heard of these.

Those pups should be fine. What value capacitors does it have in it? Are there different values on the Tone Stylers?

It's hard to say for sure without looking at the wiring first hand, but those tonestylers have a "no load" setting. I would set them to that as a test first to get them out of the picture.

Make sure the pickups are at the correct height, if they're too far from the strings it can make the guitar sound like yours.
