How about some different burst finishes. Gibson has a few different options. Silverburst looks really cool. Also, maybe some flame or quilted maple veneers? That will shake some heads!

Sam Ash has silverburst Am Std HSS Strats on their website:

I'm guessing these are a special run Fender did for Sam Ash...

Here is a pick a color special. 2003 splatter-caster. Sorry about the picture quality, but I'm not sure you could stand it any clearer. Anyway, I'm just thrilled I finally (after something under a thousand tries) got a picture on here. I'm quite impressed with my brain cell count (after all these years).

Firestorm Finish wasn't boring on this 1990 Strat Ultra!

Silver burst on an old Gibson L6-S is boring.

Shmear and Drip finishes.

These wacko paint jobs look great on abalone-inlaid American Deluxe and Custom Shop Strats and Teles with active electronics and enhanced pickup switching.

Also, an important factor for Fender is to start using jelutong/mamywo for the bodies.

If James Tyler does that, Fender can do the same, too!

I think making some bursts, other than Fender's typical burst would be awesome. Blue, Sliver, Yellow... So would the use of satin finishes.... Perhaps some bound guitars or quilted/flammed tops too.

Jimburst and Ice Blue Drip on a Fender guitar or bass would be cool!

Jimburst is a sunburst finish based on a nice mixture of rainbow colours. Steve Lukather's "Puffy" is finished in that colour.

Drips are used by John Suhr and look pretty much to Jim's own Shmear paintjobs.

I'd like to see a Fender version of the Squier Obey Strat!
