Just put in an order for a strat replacement neck from Warmoth...i got it off the showcase list. Its the traditional maple/rosewood fingerboard configuration and has the boatneck profile, 6105 SS frets, clear nitro finish...cant wait! Its gonna be going on my highway 1...i like the beefier necks a lot more then these twigs they put on them now...Anyone else installed one of these?

Yep, if you've never played on stainless before - you're in for heaven. Hopefully you got the compound radius as well?

No i got it with the straight 9.5" radius...i read mixed reviews about the compound radius...and i like the 9.5" so i figured why change it...maybe some time down the road i'll give it a try...did you find that you liked it?

I replaced the neck on my old Squier with a Warmoth neck. It was awesome. Pretty much the same configuration, except I had a C shaped neck and Albone dots. You should like the the frets.

Is it a large transition from the 10" to the 16"? I would just think that would be a nightmare of setting that up correctly...

Yes. I think it is. I've never had problems with this neck. Infact the body and the neck are Warmoth with Fender parts. It's one of my favorite guitars. A real work horse in my collection.

I went with a Fender vintage bridge, bone nut, Texas Special pick ups, tortishell pick guard and Fender locking tuning keys. I got the heaviest Alder body I could get and stained it redish brown stain (now clear coat or paint). I then had it set up for "11."

The neck came with pearl dot inlay and birds eye maple. I didn't ask for this, but it gives the guitar even more character.

I can't wait to get back from Iraq and play it.

Good luck with the neck.

You've got the wrong idea. Its so subtle as to not be noticeable even trying to 'see' the difference. There is no difference in set-up from any other neck, other than being able to set an extremely low action if you so choose...

"We selected a 10" radius at the nut for both comfort and compatibility with the popular Floyd Rose locking nut. A 16" radius at the heel has proven to afford 2-1/2 step bends with action below a 16th of an inch! There is no practical difference in accomplishing a fret level, nut cut, set-up or any other adjustment to a compound radius neck. They are as easy to work with as any other neck."

Can't comment on the Warmoth but I have a Am Dlx Strat with the new Fender compound radius board and I have grown to love it. Rather than feeling like there is an abrupt change, it actually feels much more natural moving up and down the fretboard. It it a very subtle change. It makes string bending very nice indeed when you get up the neck.

I do my own setups and there is no issue there.

I guess that makes sense that you could set it up just like a normal neck...because the lower register is more curved than the upper register which is where you set your string height anyway so you can expect it to be slightly higher in the upper register
