Hi all,
i used a own a jackson many moons ago, loved it, played it, then sold that and basically havent played for 10 years due to life getting in the way. Here i am 10 years later, got the itch back big time and lookin at a strat for the first time.
Here is where i need ur help. I need advise about these different strats as i have no idea what the main diffs are. I mean i know they have diff pickups etc, but im talking sound and feel and QUALITY.

1. USA highway 1

2. USA highway 1 FAT

3. USA special 2010 model

4. USA special FAT 2010 model

What i like to play is rock, hard rock, and sometimes delve into metal. I have done the youtube/google thing and get mixed results there, can anyone here give me good comparison? Any links to some quality vids of these exact strats being played?

Many thanks in advance to all who reply:)

Rock on
Jim

If you're into hard rock and metal I'd assume you'd want a humbucker as part of your sound.

If that's the case, check out #2 and #4 and see which you like best.

The Highway 1 is a great guitar, but the finish is a "love it or hate it" proposition.

There's no gloss to it, and they can scratch rather easily as well as "bleed" a little bit if you sweat while playing.

I have an American Special that I absolutely love, but let your own fingers and ears be the judges.

Play as many different models as you can and one will speak to you. By the way, welcome to the forum. All of your listed models are solid entry level guitars................. 8) Mike

I agree with Cherokee Mike and say just go play as many different models as you can till you find the right one for you.

I own a Highway 1 HSS and an American Special SSS and they are both great.

I have to agree, go out and play many different models in your price range. You'll find the one.

I've played them all. I can say, HSS strats are not very compromising. You cannot switch between humber and single coils with out adjusting your volume. The humbucker is very loud compared to single coils. But you'd like the USA Specials over the Highway 1 because of the better pickups they use (Texas Specials). Be mindful of the setup. Texas Specials should have the Bass String side of the pickups higher then the treble side or else the guitar won't sound right. American Special looks a lot better too!
