Musician's Friend has a picture of the 57 in CAR on its website (below). I'm wondering if this available or if it's an old picture? It's not one of the color choices that they have currently available for sale and Fender doesn't have CAR listed as an option, so I'm thinking it's an oversite.

Maybe just my wishful thinking, because that's the guitar that I want. Anyone know if the 57 may possibly be available in CAR?

Thanks!

I would say its an old picture as there is no CAR in the color options.

I didn't think CAR was introduced till the 60s so it would suprise me if there was a 57 in that colour - dakota or fiesta red yes, but CAR would surely be a refin at the least

For $100 more try the Vintage Hot Rod 57. I have one (in Black) and couldn't be happier. MF has them listed due in early Aug. Call and find out. Hope this helps

Or for way less, you could get a Jimmie Vaughan model, generally street price about $800. U.S. This model is essentially a 57 reissue but has a modern 9.5 radius on the neck,It is made in Mexico but all I have tried are very well made, have USA vintage spaced bridge and pretty good Tex Mex pickups that sound pretty vintage and it is available in CAR.

Wow that is an old picture; candy apple red was a color on the '57 reissues for years - starting with the CBS-era "U.S. Vintage Reissues" of 1982-1984 (Gilmour's '57 reissue with EMGs was candy apple red from this era) and continuing when FMIC brought them back in 1986.

FMIC continued making them in candy apple red even when the series changed to the American Vintage in 1998, but it was dropped somewhere around 2000/2001. I don't know why that photo would still be on the MF site - unless Fender is bringing the color back sometime soon.

I made that overture to nikininja almost two years ago, and he's of the same opinion you are. Mine's on order through GC and I'm told August, as well. However, the '57VRI and the '57VHR are really two different breeds of cat. It's the neck that matters to me most in this case

How do you think about this guitar? It's a '57 reissue Strat in Candy Apple Red just like Dave's own axe!

BTW, the owner of this dreamy blues-rock machine had put a 22-fret neck and a custom 2-point vintage tremolo bridge w/ bent steel saddles on it.

For those of us that like the American Vintage Series, but dont like the 7.25 fretboard there are other options. The hr 57 and 62 are great as are the thinskins thru Daves Guitar shop and Wildwoods. My 59 is a killer guitar with a 9.5 " radius and 6105s.These are a limited run .

It's possible to order a '57 or '62 Strat with all the options you mentioned above and a 22-fret neck with custom-staggered locking tuners?

No, all of the vintage series will come with a 21 fret neck.

Thanks for your feedback everyone.

BTW - I can't find the HR 57 on Fender's website anymore, just the 62. I wonder if they're discontinuing it.
