Back in like '07 or '08 I bought myself the American "Select" Stratocaster, made of Mahogony in Transparent Crimson Red HSS. I bought it for about 3 good reasons. 1) Looked awesome to me, transparent red crimson, with mahaogony body. Pretty much an HSS deluxe minus the SCN pups. Came/comes with Tex-Mex and a Diamond back humbucker. 2) When I tried it out, it sounded freakin great! 3) Is a GC/MF "exclusive" and supposed limited qty's. Well I thought, ok, it looks and sounds great and is available to me now and maybe a potential collectable Strat!!?? I am not a collector, although I do own a few guitars...5 of them, I thought it would be cool if this model became a bit of a sought after guitar once they sold out. Anyway to get to my point (sorry for the ramble), it is still available today, so my question is, does anyone know how many of these were produced? The only thing I have seen change was it go from $999.99 to like $1,200! Are they limited and not many people like them so they are not moving or was it BS and they made truck loads of this beauty?? I am attaching a link to stock photos and not actually mine, but they are ALL the same. If anyone has a good answer, please do tell?

I do not think they are a Limited Edition guitar any more. They are very nice and it is on my GAS list, but not for a while. I have bought a new guitar every year for te paast three years and it is time I focused om amps.

This guitar will make (most) your problems go away.
After getting dumped and having to move back with my parents, I said "f*@k it, I need someone thats going to treat me right". And so I bought the Select stratocaster, hehe.

Its fantastic!

These Limited Edition FSRs really suck! Fender has released many several variations of the American Deluxe series guitars over the years, from the American Designer to the Vintage Player and so on.

Perhaps the coolest FSR Deluxe guitar I've seen was the BAD BOY BLUE FSR Strat guitar. It looks very attractive with its Cobalt Blue finish over the grainy premium ash body. This baby sported a maple neck with a 22-fret ebony fretboard, side dots and a single-ply matte beveled black pickguard with matching plastic parts.

If it was a 'limited' I guess it would be limited in a way you can only buy from certain dealers. If "Limited Edition", then it would be a limited run, with the chance of reproducing something with exact specs would be unlikely.

My favourite was the Black & Chrome HSS Deluxe that Tom Morello plays- with top binding, chrome pick guard and painted black headstock.

This American Special FSR Mahogany Telecaster (not mine, of course) is by far the perfect companion to the Strat HSS. It sounds and looks great...

Although these guitars are not mine, they are both fantastic and incredible-sounding.

All the guitars went up !

I have been after 1 of those for quite some time.
They sell for about $800 to $999 on ebay.
The last few I watched on ebay did not sell at all.
There are 2 used ones for sale at my local GC, but after playing them, I would definitely change pick ups.
They still make them if you want a new one.

I am postponing purchasing one because I really want an Amber HSS.

ohh and that cobalt blue one is now on my list also

Cool. Yes it is ONLY available through CG, and like I said is pretty much a Delux, has everything a Delux HSS would have it, including S1 switch. Only dif. is NO SCN pups. I bought mine brand new for $999, it really enjoy it. Only change I made was had it Set up with .10's. So I guess no one really knows how many of this kind was made??

I've seen them priced differently at other stores, some at a whole hundred dollars less than a store 10 minutes down the freeway from another GC.
They were able to sell it to me new at a used price, and the ting was pristine!
