A 100 is not enough and 1 is to many.

Well, you can only play one at a time. In my opinion your list is ridiculously long. I personally think about three (different) guitars is enough for anybody. No doubt a guitarist wants every guitar they see, but you have to remember, "Just say NO to G. A. S.!!!",

Oh well, to each their own I guess.

Can you find practical applications for every one of those guitars? Now, I'm not one to talk- I'm a broke college student who if he sold the five guitars he has off might be reasonablly well off financially. But the reason why I have all of them are because I find practical applications for all of them: The Clapton Strat I use for slide and distorted stuff, my ES-335 I use for the jazz gigs I play, the G&L Legacy I use for my rock and faster paced stuff, and the CS Strat is my Number 1. All have their place- if they didn't, I wouldn't have them.

Too many, spread Fenders around guys so more ppl can appreciate them. And there is a differance between a passion and an obsession. :?
But yeah, if you have a practical use for each guitar or just want a good widespread collection, than go for it. But if it gets in the way of other things like your marriage than you need to do what's best for your wife and family. Done preachin'. Ironic cuz I'm only 16, lol. But think about it man. 8)

I say as long as you have the room, as long as you're not hurting yourself financially, own as many guitars as you want. My list varies from 5 to 10 guitars, depending on my cash flow and G.A.S. driven needs.

It's not like it's a waste of money. It's an investment.

I used to have 60, it was too many. I now have 4 Electrics:

1986 MIJ 3 Bolt Neck Fender Strat (tuned down 1/2 step)
2007 Fender Upgraded Highway 1
2001 Gibson LP Standard
2006 Gibson CS-336

I may get 1 more for slide.

Next Time she asks, ask her how many pairs of shoes she really needs.

depending on what you do there is certainly a need for a number of axes, for example different styles and different tuning etc.

Well, I have 5 guitars right now. Had 6 but thats another story!

02 Gibson Les Paul Classic
78/79 Fender Stratocaster
Breedlove Atlas AC/25sr Plus Acoustic.
SoundGear (Ibanez) SR810 Bass
Ibanez RG Series Electric that sits next to me at work.

But I only think you NEED 3. A Les Paul, A Stratocaster, and an Acoustic.
That's it. If you can't get your sounds from those three then you
should give up :)

just kidding. NEVER GIVE UP-!!!!!

I have 9 but use them for different things

Custom Shop 60s relic strat and PRS cu22 for use in my duo using regular tuning

Gibbo ES355 and Musicman Luke for use in my band both detuned to Eb.

Line 6 Variaxe acoustic 700 for use in duo when we do irish bars etc

Brian May guitar - cos I love playing queen stuff and we are adding more and more to our set so it may soon get some outings.

Vintage SG copy - Used once at a fancy dress gig ( i went as Angus)

Ovation celebrity acoustic- My BBQ guitar that gets thrown in the car if I'm going anywhere.

and a washburn 12 string used for recording occasionally

SO apart from the Vintage I really do use them all.

One I may add is a custom shop Clapton strat, I could use that on duo gigs when I'm tight on space and can't fit in the other strat and PRS.

Later

No such thing as too many. Every guitar has a different sound and you can find a use for all of them...eventually.
