Hi Folks, I'm new to this here thang' and have enjoyed reading all the posts so far. I am an avid guitar player(got my 1st Fender Musicmaster in 1979) and collector. I would like to see if anyone can help me identify a Strat I just purchased used in great condition.
I have a 1996-97 Fender Stratocaster standard(MN663531) Fat Strat. It has a dark red sparkle finish, vintage tint maple neck w/ spaghetti logo and MIM and serial # on back of small headstock, vintage style tuners and tremelo, 1 humbucker, 2 staggered pole piece single coils. I believe the MIM standard strat came out in 1990, with the MIM fat strat in 1999. I think this is a MIM 57' reissue, but have never seen or read about it. I have also read of a "Traditional" strat from 1996(my axes year) but it had no humbucker. Any help would be nice identifying it.
I also have a 1988 Fender Stratocaster 72' RI in Pink paisley finish. It is probably the best Strat I have played from Japan. Does anyone else have this guitar? I wonder if they are all of such high quality, or did I just get lucky with mine that I bought new.

Your guitar was made at the
Ensenada Plant (Fender), Mexico
in the Year(s): 1996 - 1997

I know what year and location made of my red sparkle strat, I don't know what model it is. Is it a special re-issue, a57'? 62? Did this guitar come from Mexico "as Is' or was it modified. It seems to be 100% stock. I have seen many MIM strats, but none like this. If I can, I will post a photo soon. Thanks
