Not sure which model he had; but my cousin played one in the early 60"s when we would jam in the families basement. It sounded great and it was fun. Of course; it is in the past; but thinking about it brings back a lot of memories.

He told me he sold it last year for around $35,000.00 Stratocaster sure does hold it value.

If you have kids and other obligations,a guitar that will bring $35,000 can sure help out.
I sold one,a '65 for $6,000 years ago,it's worth more than that now and I would like to get it back but don't think I can afford it....so I'll keep playing my modern Strats that sound every bit as good and pass them down to my sons.

That must have been a real fine 'Startocaster'... :?

On a serious note, they do increase in value more than hold their value.

Your post reminds me of a time that I got to play a refinnished '62 Sonic Blue Strat w/ rosewood fret board. It's one of the bast Strats I have ever played.

I was a at friend of mine's dealer booth and he was selling it for $2,000. I'm still kicking myself for not buying it. It was wonderful guitar. On the bight side I later used my money to get myself a Candy Green Clapton Strat.

I play a Stratocaster when I was a kid and just boot myself in the but for not holding on to it. Maybe someday I will be able to buy one of these classics. I sure hope so.

Just looking over the posts on this site bring back a ton a great memories.

And I feel guilty for letting go of a 1995 Korean Squire....

If I had an early stratocaster, and I played it growing up, I really could not see myself selling it, regardless of what it is worth.

Some things should be passed on to other players.

Maybe passed down to family. But I don't like buying other people's guitars, inheriting their bad luck. Bad voodoo. You don't know what he did to acquire the guitar, or what it's been around. Superstitious maybe, but just a personal opinion.

It's like with a woman, I'd rather be the first one ;)
