Greetings Strat Lovers,

I'm getting itchy to swap out the Atomic Humbucking Pickup in my 2009 HWY1 and wanted to confirm the need to replace my pickguard or not.

It appears as if Seymour Duncan Trembuckers will fit the Fender HWY1 OEM HSS pickguard using the three mounting holes like the existing Atomic Humbucking Pickup (i.e. drop in). Is this true?

Are DiMarzio F-Spaced pickups also a drop in fit with the Fender HWY1 OEM HSS pickguard? I can not find one image of a 3 (or 6) hole baseplate on a DiMarzio pup hence the concern.

As always, I extend my thanks in advance.

I cant speak for the Duncans....but I have MUCH experience with the DiMarzio scenario.
In my 8 Hwy 1 Strat HSS's...I have DiMarzio's in 4 of them. F-spaced no less. It DID not pose a problem as far as FIT was concerned.
The 2 screw issue forced a bit of creativeness on me. I kept the 2 center R and L screws, but had to put 2 'dummy' screws in the remaining holes. So I have 3 screw heads on on side of the pickup. There IS NO 3 hole base plate in DiMarzio's catalogue!
Inconvenient ...yes. But rather than replace 8 pickguards...I can live with it!
Also....I've used Gibson pickups in some of my HWY's and you HAVE TO make sure to get the SHORT LEG version of the pickup...or you'll be taking a HOLE SAW to the body of your guitar!

Check the enclosed picture...it's NOT a horror story! I CAN live with it! It's not the best quality photo...but you can see what I'm talking about!
