I am in the market for a new strat and I was wondering if anyone could tell me which of all the necks are the easiest and or the best for leads. I know that Fender makes the C neck, U neck, V neck, etc...... and they also have radius of 7.5", 9.5, and 12 ".

I know that guitar necks are of personal taste, but just a idea of a neck to start with, then I can play more than one guitar while I am there at the music store, to pick the one that I like.

I don't think any certain model is any better than the other if it has a good neck and good pickups !

Tomorrow is the day ! I can't wait.

Thanks for you advice in advance.

I have a V neck and had a C neck now the v neck feels better to me but here is the strange thing after 30 mins or more using the v neck my thumb starts to hurt, I did not experience this with the slightly chunkier C neck, Infact im going back to a American C neck, it was only when another guy mentioned the same problem I realised that was what was happening to my thumb..

It's really all preference. The larger radius means a flatter neck. This might be more of what you're looking for. As far as neck shape, thats up to the player. I like the EJ neck because it's a V that becomes a C further up the neck.

I like a thicker neck, like the C shape.

Thanks for the info, it was exactly what I was looking for, some pro's and some con's to different necks from different people.

Long story short........ I ended up with a Highway 1 (upgrade) that was also a 60 Anniversary edition. It has powered EMG single coil pick-ups in it. The body is flat black and it plays really well. Has a awesome sound, almost a perfect SRV without all the volume.

Thanks to all,

Wildman
