It does seem like a lot of Fender models are back ordered or simply not ordered by the dealers.

Of course I was lucky enough to stumble onto a Strat yesterday when I was looking for something else (okay, it was a PRS Swam Ash Narrowfield). Saw this CS '56 Closet Classic white blonde/ash body hanging on the wall and couldn't get it out of my head. I'll have it next week; it's getting the 5-way installed and some set-up work done.

That's always the way with me - I'll stumble onto a really nice Strat when I'm looking for something else. When I'm really consciously looking for a Strat I'll never find what I want to try out. To all those waiting hang in there; the right Strat is worth the wait.

I have had a TM Jazzmaster on order since April. Original I was told 3 weeks, then 2 months, then August.

I went in on the weekend and they told me it may be available January 2011 if I get lucky. I commented that "this is what I get for ordering a less common guitar." They told me it would be the same thing If I ordered a plain black american strat.

Its not so much the wait that drives me nuts but the shifting dates and lack of tracking.

The two large music stores near my house may have 5 american Fenders between them.

Now it's August...did you receive your Jazzmaster yet? I ordered an American standard Strat from a small, local dealer, mid June. Still has not arrived. The story he got from Fender is that there was apparently a 'perfedt storm' of circumstances that converged that has dramatically delayed manufacturing... 1) about a thousand guitars ready to ship had something wrong and quality control wouldn't allow them to ship. 2) they ran out of paint...their supplier actually ran out of the right paint. 3) they were inundated with more orders than usual. All true, or not, it still means a major delay in receiving ordered guitars from Fender. Please post if anyone receives their back order...may be a sign things a shipping again.

Have not received it yet. I honestly don't believe its coming any time soon. I will post when/if I receive it. This guitar had better be immaculate when it comes it :)

My Candy Cola finally was delivered to the store after a six month wait. The store owner is a old friend of mine and didn't mind when I told him that I would like to change the order to a Tobacco Burst Am. Deluxe. It was a hard decision, I have no problem with the Standards, I just decided I would go all out and get the Deluxe.

He told me Fender was expecting 90 day turnaround on new orders.

He also said he would have no trouble unloading the CC, it seems everybody is looking and there are none to be found locally.

I will probably try again to get an Am. Standard next year.

I ordered an American Deluxe Strat HSS from my local dealer in Brantford Ontario Canada back in March. Still waiting. The dealer was told by Fender that it should be arriving "near the end of next month". No further details about any production problems.

I have had a simple Fender Frontman 25R on order since April and it just shipped. I suspect that Fender ran into some major manufacturing problems across the board that are just now getting fixed. I used to work for an auto manufacturer who ran into a major problem (due to a lack of trained people) and we ended up with almost 6,000 vans piled up at the plant that failed Quality control for numerous problems in each van. They tried their best to keep the manufacturing snafu quiet and eventually worked the problems out as it appears that Fender is doing.

Mentioned this in another thread where they ended up talking mostly about Marmite and Vegimite of all things... so I figured i would let folks know here as well. :P

I picked up a new 2010 Deluxe Strat over the weekend, in Olympic Pearl with maple fretboard and a Serial Number which starts with 10 and an inspection date of June 15 on the tag. I also had been waiting since March and was hoping for a new Black Deluxe V neck , I figured that wouldn't happen any time soon so i went for the white one... great choice as this thing is amazing!

If anyone is looking for one of these in Toronto, Long and McQuade on Bloor St still had an Olympic Pearl with rosewood in stock as of last Saturday... also new 2010 stock. I think it'll be some more time before the new colours start to show up, but these deluxes are starting to trickle into stores, in North America at least.

Cheers!

Just a quick crossover from marmite world on the other thread. I have waited long enough (since April) for a new 2010 am dlx amber rosewood hss to be delivered - so I just bought a similar 2009 sss.

Without hearing anything from Fender, just dealer info and rumours, and with the delivery time put back a month every month, I didn't feel I could wait forever - I gotta play!

They did, didn't they? Who the heck are those weird people anyway?

The reasons for the production delays are to be found over on this thread. The anwers to all other questions are to be found there too. ALL other questions...:

I ordered an American Vintage '57 P-Bass in White Ash back in August and just got off of the phone with the dealer that placed the order for me and he said that it's not going to ship until January or February of 2011!! He said it has something to do with Fender losing their paint supplier.
