I figured that, with this lousy economy, Fender would be filling orders almost
instantly. I ordered an American Standard Strat over two months ago and
it looks like it's going to be another two months before I get it.What's up with that?

Interesting...have a '57 Vintage Hot Rod on order since 4/3/10. They're looking at August for delivery. :?

Yes on the delay for sure. The only new "Americans" in stock they had were some sunburst Lonestars and one other 2 tone. 8-20 weeks backlog according to a friend/dealer who talked to his Fender contact @ factory. I ended up getting a Standard "MIM and upgraded (see earlier post from today-any help would be appreciated!). I guess it will have to do for a while but it does play really well actually. Our other guitar player shelled out $1,500 for Deluxe and likes this one equally after mods.

I wouldn't get too alarmed. Most likely they've suspended production for inventory reduction purposes. A lot of companies are doing that these days.

Shipping an item would reduce inventory. Apparently, they don't have the inventory to reduce.

Wow, I didn't notice this thread before.
My American Standard Strat was a breeze. I just had to wait one week and I didn't mind at all.
I am sorry to hear you guys are having trouble getting your Fender item
and that some of you are expecting an August delivery.

I feel bad now. :(
Sorry.

Not necessarily true, they just don't appear to have any Blizzard Pearl Am Stds in inventory.

Yes but what really boggles my mind is that Fender has run out of a
standard product. This isn't an artist series or anything. It's a standard
Stratocaster.

It's like Ford running out of Mustangs or F150's.

I have had a TM Jazzmaster on order since April. Original I was told 3 weeks, then 2 months, then August.

I went in on the weekend and they told me it may be available January 2011 if I get lucky. I commented that "this is what I get for ordering a less common guitar." They told me it would be the same thing If I ordered a plain black american strat.

Its not so much the wait that drives me nuts but the shifting dates and lack of tracking.

The two large music stores near my house may have 5 american Fenders between them.

Now it's August...did you receive your Jazzmaster yet? I ordered an American standard Strat from a small, local dealer, mid June. Still has not arrived. The story he got from Fender is that there was apparently a 'perfedt storm' of circumstances that converged that has dramatically delayed manufacturing... 1) about a thousand guitars ready to ship had something wrong and quality control wouldn't allow them to ship. 2) they ran out of paint...their supplier actually ran out of the right paint. 3) they were inundated with more orders than usual. All true, or not, it still means a major delay in receiving ordered guitars from Fender. Please post if anyone receives their back order...may be a sign things a shipping again.

I have had a simple Fender Frontman 25R on order since April and it just shipped. I suspect that Fender ran into some major manufacturing problems across the board that are just now getting fixed. I used to work for an auto manufacturer who ran into a major problem (due to a lack of trained people) and we ended up with almost 6,000 vans piled up at the plant that failed Quality control for numerous problems in each van. They tried their best to keep the manufacturing snafu quiet and eventually worked the problems out as it appears that Fender is doing.

I did finally get the Blizzard Pearl Strat. I ordered in late March and it arrived in early July. It took about 3 and a half months in all.

It was a long wait but it is a nice item!

Well, I'm a Thai, and 10 years ago I bought my Strat from an authorized reseller, Music Collection.

I'm still playing it right NOW!

Once you get a Strat, you're never gonna regret :D
It's like my baby already, 10 years old!!

a Mexican-made fender, MZ1179277
and the sound doesn't change at all :D
