I figured that, with this lousy economy, Fender would be filling orders almost
instantly. I ordered an American Standard Strat over two months ago and
it looks like it's going to be another two months before I get it.

What's up with that?

Hey that sounds a bit unusual to me..

when I walk in to my Fender Dealer next month I hope that they don't say to me "It will arrive in 4 Months".

For an American Standard that is a long time.

As far as I am aware, sometimes Fender will have delays with factory build runs with certain colours. Last year I asked my Dealer to order me a Sienna Sunburst American Standard Strat.

His reply was that Fender Australia was out of stock of the Sienna Sunburst and the dealer was waiting on Fender America to do another build run of the Sienna Sunburst.

Anyway, I am ready to try again for a Sienna Sunburst Maple Neck Strat.

What colour were you after? :)

Did you order a Custom Shop model in a custom color or special order
parts, etc.? My local shop has several available now with the normal catalog
choices: sunbursts,std. colors. :)
I read elsewhere on this forum that the Corona plant is 2(?) months
behind in filling orders.
I guess that is a popular model !

Yeah I reckon your right...

I also read on this forum that a couple of guy's were waiting on Custom Shop Jobs to be done and that was about the time frame of arrival...4 Months..

I haven't heard of the backlog as yet...

I might make enq's today on my Sienna Strat and get an Idea of the waiting time...

Never rush the factory as this is how QC problems arise.

I ordered a Blizzard Pearl American Standard Stratocaster -- nothing custom at all.

A bad economy usually results in layoffs. There may be less people working. Who knows?

Also I wonder what the demand for Blizzard Pearl is. You might be waiting for paint to dry, if they didn't anticipate a lot of demand, and make a bunch of em.

I've had an American Vintage '52 Tele on backorder for over 2 months, so it's not just the Strats!

The local GC and Best Buy have a few Am. Std. but the selection is limited, didn't see any blizzard pearl, lots of MIM Strats tho... I guess I was very lucky to find an Am. Dlx. when I went to GC, can't seem to find that many around either!

Geez, if the Deluxe Player's Strat is also delayed, doesn't that mean the shipping issue is not limited to the Corona plant? They're made in Ensenada, I believe..

Does Fender priortise Exporting their products first before home sales..?

I just got off the phone from my Dealer and they stated that an American Standard would take 2 weeks to get in...yes this is my request for my Sienna Sunburst with Maple Neck.

I also enquired on a new 2010 American Deluxe Strat and that would only be 2 weeks to get in as well.

Hmmmmm

Asked about the Deluxe at my local shop = backordered. Was looking at an '09 Am Stndrd SSB they had in stock a couple weeks later, said it was a good choice, especially cause they weren't getting any new ones in anytime soon. (I did buy it - sweet guitar!)
