Hey, I have an 80's Made in Japan '57 reissue strat.

So, was wondering what neck profile it has... I'm looking to get another strat, something newer probably an american deluxe, but I would like the neck to be as similair to my current strats as possible.

So whether V or C profile, is my main question. I've seen conflicting arguments in a few short google searches.

The Serial Number is: E959870 which according to the fender site puts it as an '84 - '87. If anyone else could give me more details on which year this was made i'd be grateful too :)

Thanks, Chris

The builders on contract to make Japanese Fenders really strived to get the details right. In '57, the Strat's neck shape was a soft V shape, which can feel a little like some thicker C-shape necks.

I know my MIJ '67 Stratocaster neck profile was apparently very close to, if not the exact same as the real McCoy (it's a very, very thin C-shape; the closest current neck profile to it would actually be an Affinity Strat).

aye, I farging love it.

when i decided i wanted a strat with some more 'oomph' i bought another 80's MiJ and put some hot rails in it.

it just plays so nice.

was looking more towards the american deluxe, so either V or C shape neck.

Or the John Mayer signature, but the neck on that is a 'thick C shape', and if anything my 80's strat doesnt feel particularly 'thick' haha. Well not compared to my LP ;)

I have the JM strat and it has a fat C neck, and it is one the more comfortable necks I have ever played
