I purchased a 2007 American Strat deluxe, and the rosewood fretboard came with rolled edges and a nice luster on the fretboard.

However, I took it in for a setup and now the luster is gone.

What is an easy way to restore the luster, as I like the way it looks much better than the dry look?

Thanks.

I'm thinging of trying lemon oil to clean. After using lemon oil to clean will it buff to a nice luster?

Also, is there a fretboard conditioner that is predominantly used to buff to a nice shine? I took a look at the Colortone fretboard finishing oil as well. When I look at these products, there is no indication on the amount of luster that one can expect. ANy ideas in that department?

I've been treating my rosewood neck fretboards with a rub down/polish using the lightest guage wire wool you can buy (0000 guage ONLY!). Used with lemon oil, the end result is a neck that plays like silk. If you want to try this, cover your pickups with masking tape or something - the wire wool debris will stick to the magnetic p/up poles otherwise..

This is also a great trick if you have a budget guitar where the manufacturers have skimped on a proper fret polish. You know the sort of thing - you play the guitar and your finger tips are black afterwards..

As others have said - and it's good advice - I don't use lemon oil on a maple neck. For these, don't use a polish that contains silicon.

Use lemon oil and the luster will return :) when they set up your guitar they may have used crap solution and its dried your board out, lemon oil will re-impregnate it and you'll be happy again :)

I'll get right out to GC for some lemon oil. And then buff away to get my shine back.

Thanks all!
