Andy,

I have seen your wiring diagrams and your willingness to help people out. Maybe you can help me too if you get the chance.

I have a 2009 MIM Standard Strat. I have it wired like an American Standard with the bottom tone control attached to the bridge and middle PUPs. I just received a set of SCN Pups today that I plan to install over the weekend. What I am trying to figure out is if it is possible to modify this diagram

http://support.fender.com/diagrams/stra ... 00CPg2.pdf

and use it with the three SCNs (instead of two single coils and a humbucker) to achieve this pickup/tone control selection

http://support.fender.com/diagrams/stra ... 00CPg4.pdf

Obviously, switch position 1 would have an SCN and not two coils of a humbucker.

If it can be done, could you draw it up? Others might be interested too and I welcome any and all thoughts and help.

Thanks so much for the help anyone can provide.

Howdy!

Just so i've got this right. You would like a wiring diagram for the following:

A set of SCN's wired to enable:

Position 5 = Neck pup with Tone 1
Position 4 = Middle with Tone 1
Position 3 = Middle with Tone 1
Position 2 = Bridge & Middle with Tone 1
Position 1 = Bridge & Tone 2

Correct?

Andy

bluesky636,

Could you do me a favour and change the thread title for me and open this up to the forum? It would be good to make sure you get the best result as there are far more knowledgeable people on this forum who could contribute.

I'm not totally sure how to do this just yet but I do like a challenge. If someone else works it out before me I'll draw it up for you (if they don't)

Hows that?

Andy

I really think the layout diagram is wrong isnt it?
When you select a position where both pickups have a tone control, the zero'd tone control overrides the other tone control because it's already sent all the treble to ground????

Almost:

Position 5 = Neck pup with Tone 1
Position 4 = Neck & Middle with Tone 1
Position 3 = Middle with Tone 1
Position 2 = Bridge & Middle with Tone 1
Position 1 = Bridge with Tone 2

Just like the second link in my original post.

I have no idea. I can't make any sense out of how the super switch works. Hopefully Andy or someone else can.

Hello!

Thanks for changing the thread topic

You may want to take a second look at your second link:

http://support.fender.com/diagrams/stra ... 00CPg4.pdf

and I think Nikininja and I have hit the same problem, but i'm still not sure.

My bad,

Position 4 & 3 on the link shows the middle pup by its self. but i'm pretty sure you don't want that! Just making sure as i'm prone to cocking up every now and then :D

I rekon this might be a job for our resisdent Guru Martian. We'll see if he drops in.

Andy

Oh, poop.

I grabbed the wrong files. These are the one's I wanted:

http://support.fender.com/diagrams/stra ... 02CPg2.pdf

http://support.fender.com/diagrams/stra ... 02CPg4.pdf

Sorry, They are easy to get confused.

There's also this one:

http://www.acmeguitarworks.com/Assets/p ... e_Star.pdf

So the question is, will either of these work with a 3rd SCN in place of the bridge humbucker?

Ah ha!

I think i've got it. I'll post a pic soon that will give you the same tone controls as the ACME diagram but with the SCN's. With two tone pots each with their own cap its possible.

Im sure the layout diagram is wrong, or rather incomplete. The bucker/mid pickup selection must surely operate on either tone control. I think its a ommision error that it's labeled as only working on one pot.
