Why did strats go from the 5 screws to a 2 screw setup on the tremolo unit? Also, how tight should the screws on a two screw unit be? The reason I ask is because my wammy bar seems to be not flush with the guitar; it seems to sit kinda high and pointed upwards a bit. I've got all three springs on the back also, if that makes a difference.

When you say "the whammy bar" is high/pointing up, are you talking about the bridge/tremolo unit or the actual arm itself? Anyway...

And from here:

Quote:
For a two-pivot model such as the American Series bridge, use your tremolo arm to pull the bridge back flush with the body and adjust the two pivot screws to the point where the tremolo plate sits entirely flush at the body (not lifted at the front or back of the plate).

It's the arm itself that is pointing up (the plastic tip end). It doesn't seem to want to screw in to the hole very far either, so it sits up high.
I'd use the wammy bar more if it could be set up a little better.

Put it in a vice and bend it.

It's been said that Hendrix used to bend with his hands?

I have a variety of 'em and use different ones in rotation. I also know a good machinist who made up a few custom ones.

You can never have too many kickstands.
