I use almost .010; more power than .009 and easy to bend.

0.009 too soft , too easy to bend. little bit too bright, not enough bass.

I have couple guit so I can have different strings gauge.

I tried .011 ; good tone but I don't ply enough fo having my fingers stronger for having fun with .011

12's due to a tuning problem and i have little patience and less cash. suprising thing is that like em. alot. hard to bend but a very beefy tone and you can't knock it out of tune with a sledgehammer.

I agree with this - i've found that 9s are a little too thin, in both feel and sound. i used 11s for a long time and recently switched to 10s, makes it much easer for bends/legato and i don't feel like it's a huge compromise in tone.

I'm using 9's but I will probably switch to 10's. I've broken strings doing bends twice, but lucky for me I was at home when it happened both times.

im thinking of putting 10s on my strat.
i wanted to hear from folks with 10s.
is there a big difference between 9's and 10's?
i know i should get a thicker tone.
i like SRV's tone with the 11's.
im just not sure i can go from using 9's all my
life and jump to 11's w/o regret.
i figure one step at a time is what i should do.

waycool, just drop the dime and try em. i love 10's. the 12's i use are like piano wires. but, the tone and the workout are a good thing for an old beastard like me. eventually i'll get another setup and probably settle on 11's for the strat.

i'm pretty sure SRV used 12s. i think the best way is to move to tens for a little bit, and then if you feel like you are used to them make the jump to elevens next time you buy strings.

i use a d'addario 12-52 set, but change the third to a plain .20 gage instead of a .24 wound. i decided to try it one day and loved em they just give such a fat beautiful tone if you can, but i cant get the tight pinch harmonics in the wound third so i change it,

my dad always plays 9-42 bullets and i told him to see what he thinks of the 12s and he is about to change out his strings lol.

plain and simple to me 12s sound the best ...if you can bend em

yeah i knew it wasn't 11s but i couldn't remember if it was 12s or 13s. personally i think 11s are about as thick as i'll go, it's nice to get a similar tone to SRV but i'd rather work on being able to actually play his style well first before i worry about how thick my strings are in comparison to his
