Hi, does anyone have some nice pictures of the eric clapton strat in pewter?

From what I've seen until now, I'm not sure whether the color is just gray or whether it has some sort of "sparkling" effect (sorry I don't know a better word), and I'm not sure whether I should go for that color. Unfortunately, there's no shop nearby which has such an instrument available for testing/viewing.

There's a fellow who posted pictures of his pewter Clapton strat long ago. Searching "Clapton" likely won't get you anywhere, though :?

I can tell you it's an amazing colour. My favorite for the Clapton strat, by far.

I have a mint 89 but no picts right now. But it looks just like the one below. Pewter is darker than the Inca Silver and is a grey metallic with a clear coat:

Here's a photo of EC with his early '60s-era short hair and dark pewter Strat:

I prefer using the term "Dark Pewter" instead of the misleading "EC Grigio Grey" because both finishes are nearly identical.

If you are shopping for a grey EC Strat I would check out the Custom Shop 2010 limited edition in "EC Grey". EC Grey is a tad darker than Pewter. It's all very personal of course, but I prefer the EC Grey over the Pewter, it looks a bit classier to my eye.

Check out the inventory at Wildwood Guitars, they have a host of of good quality pictures on their website. Good chance they have both the Pewter and the EC Grey.

Yes, the EC Strat in pewter has a metallic flake in it. But don't let that discourage you. That color is probably the coolest color of the EC line. Someone posted a link to a bunch of pictures. That guitar looks nice but I gotta tell ya, drop some lace sensors in that beast and you have one gorgeous piece of lumber there.

I'm not a big fan of green but the green EC Strat is sweet too. Mine is off white, or whatever the name of the color is. hehe!!

As much as I like the pewter (one of the reasons I chose charcoal frost metallic in a Standard) I think the daphne blue is an awesome looking guitar.

......Grigio Silverstone is the Ferrari paint finish this guitar was to match. You obviously know Eric's relationship with that company. There may be a copyright or trademark issue which prevented Fender from using that description. It's not the first automobile finish that Eric has matched a guitar to. A.R. Duchossoir reminds us that the first name given to that 'gray' finish in '88 was anthracite, which was then dropped for pewter.

Wasn't Pewter a Mercedes paint?

The custom shop model costs about 1200$ more than the "normal" artist model. I have some doubts whether it's worth to pay that much more just for a nicer color and hand selected wood (even the normal model is not cheap).

Looks nice! Is this the same color as the 2010 models?
