I have the EJ Maple neck model and think it is an awesome guitar. I've never played the RW model but have watched the recent video of EJ explaining the benefits of the RW strat. It seems the pickups have been wound a bit hotter than the maple along with a few other changes. Has anybody here done a head to head comparison between the two and come to any conclusions as to which is nicer or better?

I think everyone has their preference.Personally, I like the rosewood, but have a maple neck in my arsenal too.I really like the look of the bound neck too.I cant say there is a audible difference in tone, but to me the rosewood is easier to dig in with, while the maple might be a tad bit faster.Me personally, I take what EJ says about tone with a grain of salt.He has some good tips , but often goes overboard .

I actually feel the rosewood is faster because there is no finish on it. It seems to allow me to press on the fretboard without pressing back like maple necks do. Plus, the tone is slightly darker all around.

The bound fret board on the RW EJ model is very different than the regular Strat RW necks,at least for the short time I played one,I prefer the other RW fretboards....I am used to the 9.5 or 7.5 necks.
How it compares to a maple EJ model would be about the same as any other rosewood vs. maple Strat,I would think....there are some differences but subtle, nothing that will be an awesome difference.
ymmv.
