Hi all,
Was wondering what the spacing is on the Am. Special series strat bodies...is it like the Mexican models or would a Am. Vint. Trem work? Thanks in advance.

Greetings.

OEM, it has an American Vintage Tremolo.

For some reason the 6-hole spacing on a MIM Strat vintage style tremolo differs slightly from that of an American made Strat. Therefore, a MIM vintage style tremolo is not going to fit correctly on an American Series Strat. I know this from experience. I own several American made Strats and one MIM that I purchased a few years ago.
I assume that your present guitar presently has a vintage 6 screw style tremolo. Is that correct? What is the reason why you need a new tremolo for your guitar? I am just curious.

Hi,
According to my 1962 Vintage Stratocaster body blueprint from Fender, the spacing of the screw holes for a vintage style Strat tremolo is as follows:

The holes are equally spaced .444 inch apart. So if you measure from between the 1st screw hole to the 6th screw hole it will measure 2.220 inches total.

This is what is marked on the Fender body blueprint:

5 equal spaces @ .444 = 2.220

I would highly recommend that you measure this against the measurements on your present American Special Series Strat, just to make sure that they match. I don't have a blueprint on hand that matches your guitar. However, I believe that they should be the same if your guitar also has a vintage style 6-hole tremolo.
