The last issue I have is Jan '08, but I don't see an ad for the new Strats in there.

Likely it would be Feb '08. If the release date is 1/17/08 I wouldn't expect the ad to run earlier in that most subcribers would have it in their hands by December.

Just got my Feb '08 GP. There's a 2-page ad on 10-11, but it just refers you back to the website. Still no specs.

I see they've gone back to using the name "American Standard" again. Interesting.

I don't get GP, what guitar was pictured in the ad? Color?

It's white with a maple fretboard. It looks like any other Strat so the changes must be somewhere else like in the electronics. The ad sends you to . . .

http://www.fender.com/makehistory/

. . . but there aren't any details yet. I guess we'll have to be patient . . . again!

The ad in the Feb 08 Guitar World showed a black, maple neck Strat.
The Vintage Guitar mag ad showed a tele.

The bridge saddles shown are vintage style.

Yes, they are !! Must have missed that because my go-to guitar has the vintage bridge and it looks normal to me.

I guess I didn't pay a lot of attention to the bridge. I have three guitars with vintage bridges and they are all of the 6 screw variety.

Now is a good time time buy one, if you can find one. I had been eyeing an American series for over a year. Everyboday had them around $960. Went to the opening weekend of the new Guitar Center in West LA and to my surpise they were $670 (about a month ago). Bought my black and maple on the spot. Nobody there knew why they were marked down. Finally a manager looked it up and told me it was a limited time "Grand Opening Sale". Lucky me.

Now they don't even have them in stock. Obviously they were just blowing them out. So if you can find one expect to pay about what I did - or better.

The new Vintage Guitar magazine has the Fender ad for the "Make History New American Standard" guitars. It's got a sunburst strat.

Only a few more days until the www.fender.com/makehistory web site comes alive!

Does the Strat have a six-point tremelo or the two-point? And, does the fingerboard have 22 or 21 frets?
