I'm new to this forum. Don't know if this thread is still open.
I have an old curiosity and an interesting news.
In april 1992 I bought a SRV strat at a great italian dealer in Bologna, I'm italian, the first SRV that was sold in Italy or so, I think. I still have the fender card dated April 14 1992.
The serial number of the guitar I still have is SE909550.
Some year ago I took off the neck. Neck date was May, 19, 1992 and body date was Apr 06, 1992.
Yes, you have read right, the guitar was bought in Italy on the April 14 and the neck was dated May.
If someone have an explanation to this enigma I would be very grateful.
My search started to discover what fretboard was. Maybe brasilian, but I never have been sure.

FYI:

Pao Ferro: ...Allergic Information

Pau ferro, used as a rosewood substitute, is a strong sensitizer capable of causing acute outbreaks of allergic and irritant dermatitis in workers not previously exposed to it. This, however, has not prevented furniture factories from using the product. Apparently, most workers develop tolerance to the wood. The allergen is (R)-3,4-dimethoxydalbergion, a strong skin sensitizer.[2].

Interesting. Next time you see somebody run out of their wood shop screaming "it itches, it itches...Stevie, wut were you thinking?"... now you know.

Many 5-string MIA and MIM basses featured pau ferro fingerboards until 2005/06.
